Jimmy Varacallis' Austin Healey. I remember when it was just a pile of body parts in the old Mission Orange garage in Wilmerding. Al Lynch and Jimmy where doing body work out of that garage.

Still a very common thing in New Zealand.
It's the country taverns and gas stations that are going the way of the Dodo bird.

The latest thing in my city is Roadside BBQ's along the beachfronts and some parks.
Just push a button and it lights up for 30 mins [no coins needed], The local city pays for the propane to encourage tourism etc.

I said it before and I'll say it again. When Seafair hit Seattle chances are if you were a young boy growing up in the area you were dragging some kind of wooden hydro tacked together from scraps on a hunk of string behind your bike with your buddies. These boats made a glorious racket.

My parents had friends they had made in Seattle during the war. In 1953 we started visiting them, I was 3.

They had a house on the lake. I would watch slo-mo, and Miss Bardahl and Miss Thrifty practice right in front of the house. Also had the seaplanes going in and out of Sand Point NAS. Was great fun watching those loud water hurling boats. Seafare was something to behold.

    thx Johnny99!
