I'm not 100% sure but the first attached photo looks like it might be of a young Don Brown. If so, there was no better fabricator/builder than Don. He worked for several of the old masters like Lesovsky and Kuzma where he learned his craft. And he probably drove a Novi faster than anyone when he tested one at El Mirage while working for Jean Marcenac.

The second photo appears to be Walt Ader in Joe Lencki's car. The car looks to be running an Offy instead of the Lencki six cylinder although you can see where the hood was cutout originally for the Lencki engine.

I concur on Don Brown. Isn't that the car Don Davis received his life ending injuries?

that pic stirred up a lot of interest on a local (st. louis) site. pic said to date to 1955. chevy is a '51 (?), i figure the hudson has the twin-h and is a '52 or '53. ford's a '55, clapped-out merc a '51.

That doesn't look worrisome at all.

Found the intersection... Broadway at Yamhill. The hotel back there is still the Heathman today.

I have ridden motorcycles for over 50 years and have done some crazy stunts, some even on purpose, but I don't think that I pack the gear to go motorcycle chariot racing.

Rootie, this is Eddie Casterline in the Ted Koopman #7 . He was part of the famous 4 car Koopman Team that Ran with Bay State Midget Auto Racing in New England. There was Eddie in the 7 , Joe Sostilio in the 17, Pappy Shubruk in the 19 and Johnnie Bernardie in the 12. Eddie was killed in this car in June of 47' at Seekonk Speedway in Mass. Both Eddie and Joe Sostilio ran on the west coast in the winter of 46/47. Joe had a good showing in the L.A. Colosium in the 17 3-20-d-casterline-47.JPG
