It would be kool to find a set of NOS for sale. (cheap) Maybe Coker will re-pop them. Lol!

  2. Don't hold your breath. I'm still hoping they will eventually re-pop the whitewall with white letters US Royal Masters.

Was it Tires or the liquid she's holding that made them illuminate.

The tires were translucent synthetic rubber that allowed light to pass through. Engineering the lights inside was up to you. These were the same legendary tires that were used on the "Golden Sahara'.

Unlit, these tires were unremarkable. I am fortunate to have seen them on the GS.
But in their unlit state, I just thought that the tires had been spray painted gold, which I also thought looked rather cheesy (given the brilliance of the gold trim, and the incomparable luster of the pearlescent finish).

Birds of a feather...Clarence (Chili) Catallo and Don Vargo.

Fast friends since early childhood, Don and Clarence both built blue, Bill Wanders-prepped Olds powered Fords.
After Clarence had his '32 reworked by the Alexander Bros., Don soon followed suit. The sectioned doors and finned rocker panels on both the "Silver Saffire" and the "69'er" were to repair damage to the deeply channeled bodies, caused by Michigan winters.

Vargo also went a step farther, with the "then-new" candy red paint, and adding a blower to the mill.

    Candy paint, and a blower....?
Not to be outdone, Chili then took his car to Barris, for a top chop and finishing to the form which would become iconic as the "Little Deuce Coupe".

Don Vargo was a pall bearer at Clarence Catallo's funeral.
