The hearse was the property of Howe - Peterson Funeral Home here in Dearborn, Michigan before the sale.

I wonder what he's gonna do instead of using a welder to put in back together?

Actually, the car was hammer welded back together. The workmanship has long been heralded as among the best ever!

  5. WW II Aircraft surplus.
Flat base, lock ring, truck rims with centers replaced and widened. I've changed a bunch of them on orange grove rigs and heavy lift straddle cranes in Florida.

  7. (As a native Marylander, PG County public school attendee 1967-75 - I can attest: PG has its dicey areas. I Do not advise walking down the sidewalk in District Heights, Glen Arden etc.. with a $100 bill taped to your forehead. LOL. It has benefited from the growth of Washington DC nearby.) (end of non hot rod/custom conversation)

Here's two vintage shot locations in PG to watch for: old shots of Beltsville Speedway, a dirt track used to be there, and Capitol Raceway! dragstrip near Crofton.
    And a story:
1982,: I was working construction down at the FTZ -off RT 301. There down past Central Ave was an old gas station, guy there was about 80 years old. On the side of the building was an old touring car, running boards big headlights, covered by a tattered tarp. The old guy said years ago when he was young and working there his father/or uncle owned the station and a well dressed man stopped in because the car had problems. He asked the owner to fix it and hold onto the car until he came back for it. He never did return. The car was white or light gray, might have been a Cadillac touring car, or could have been a Rolls or Pierce Arrow, hard to tell because of the tarp and the old man didn't want anyone going near it. The man's name? Alphonse Capone. What was Al Capone doing in PG? don't if it is true, but that area was huge for liquor smuggling back in the 1920's due to all the small waterways around there and points south into Southern MD.

Did a little digging. This was not Henry's last ride.

Clara arranged Henry's funeral through a funeral home in Detroit and they brought in a Packard hearse especially for Henry so he would not have to take his final trip in a Cadillac.

Elvis (remember him?) drove this roadster in the 1957 movie, "Loving You".
The curved windshield still sets it apart, some 60 years later!

1939 Chrysler windshield glass with home made surround and posts ... a lot of hand made parts by John Athan on this beauty.
