Another day, another t-roadster built in the early 1950's in Indianapolis, Indiana. This one comes to us from Bob Hamke. Bob actually started with a truck cab and then used the rear section of a coupe - taking the long road to what we call a "coupest...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Great car I would love to see it restored. I wouldn't call it a coupster as the doors and cowl are original roadster pieces. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=372165&showall=1
Another interesting combination of turtle deck and roadster parts I can take inspiration from. Clean original T bodies must have already been drying up by the 50's for a guy to put in the amount of work it took to mate these two together like that. I like it.
what a neat little car the body parts collection lends a lot more room than Ford's roadster not being a flathead guy but, isn't 306 inches big for a flathead? that must have been a hoot to drive
Bob Hamke moved to south Florida shortly after your notes. He raced at our local oval tracks an had his shop in Hialeah/Miami . I knew Bob Hamke an his son Robert jr.who also became a super great fabracater as well, along with a very good race car driver, the stuff that Bob did was very inovative, anything he needed he designed an built,he was a big factor in race cars in Florida in the end of 50 an into 60's/70's. He's the guy I asked when I needed advice about making some hotrod part fit to another it did not belong with.
2 "T" features on consecutive days!?!?! Methinks Ryan might have been bitten by the T-roadster bug! So when's the new "T" project going to be unveiled?
He used the "Coupe" rear section of the body because it was longer that the T Roadster body....more leg room
Just to add, this mod racer designed an built by Bob Hamke was nearly undefeaded. Take note that with all the many ground braking things done, this also has twin turbos. Driving is the{Sir} Roddy Perry, highist win to starts score of any racer ever !
Update,Bob Hamke roadster being restored, his son Robert jr with back to us in gray shirt, photo from Robbie Macleod.
Awesome! Now enough with the teaser shot we want more, more, more! Thanks for the update @dana barlow
That was yesterday. Just a link with first I saw this show up on HAMB;https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-hamke-car-goes-home.381580/
Old thread I know. But i just found out that Robert Hamke had passed away. I think it was back in july. He is the son that got the roadster back. He was a noted race car builder/driver himself.
Condolences to the Hamke family and friends in the passing of Robert... He will be reunited with his Dad and get a big pat on the back for bringing the Hotrod back... I have just been sharing Bob's Hotrod...it was a unique ride and sure did the walk and got noticed... May he Rest in Peace... @B.A.KING, thank for sharing this loss to the Community...I hope there is someone to carry on with the family heirloom and the legacy they built... Great Link @dana barlow,...condolences in this loss of a racer friend...not the news anyone wants to hear... There seems to be a Robby Hamke I suspect Robert's son...Have you met Robby, Dana? So many Bob's... A scan shared by @Trichop...that is Robert up top beside his Dads Roadster...
Dad that built the hot rod was called Bob,really nick name of Robert,/his son called Robert( Jr)< was op. Robby is his son/grandson of Bob. All have first name of Robert, but as things go with names, there are def. ways,like_ Sr./_2/_3. Great great racers an builders. As far as I know,Robby is going to now restore his Grandads hot rod. If I hear anything new,I'll try an update.
I was just checking the racer that i know who had passed away this Year. I'm working about 12 hrs a day.I'm behind. Just happened to see his name from the past year. Along with Frankie Grille, Freddy Fryar, who also passed away. Some where i have pics of Freddy from Chattanooga doing some drag racing in the late 50, maybe early 60's. Rough year for racers that i grew up watching .
@B.A.KING, @dana barlow, thank you both for your connections and sharing these moments and the fact it's from Dana's knowledge still in the family with Robby still shifting gears the Hamke Torch is still being held high... I hope Robby becomes a Member here...maybe he is already...
