So am I correct when thinking that the "cockpit" is the same opening but the doors are just shorter?

I am pretty sure that most car makes, have a bigger cockpit on a coupe...wider and longer

Doors are way too short on most roadsters like Model A.... Tough to get in/out.

I can't see trying to make a coupe shell look exactly like a roadster with all the differences. It just takes too long, and it is not fooling anybody in most cases.

The 50s built coupsters were an easy, fun way to have an open car. Nobody gave a toot if it was not a real roadster.

The reason I said "it takes too long"(to make a real roadster from a coupe), is that I am just finishing my 32 which was a 5w coupe that was missing a roof. I wanted a "cabriolet style" with roll-up side windows. Even though I am almost done, it simply was not worth the huge amount of never ending labor to build.(YEARS)

On mine I left the doors long but shortened cockpit by making a roadster size tulip pannel some of the body was missing most of the car was an experiment to see if I could build something decent looking out of garbage, junk and castoffs I lost most pics but I do have one in primer

I agree they can look just fine, when made like a Cabriolet. Easier, and not really trying to fool anyone.

I have a question. If you cut the roof off a closed cab pu, and add roadster windshield posts, would that be a poupester??:p

I like the look of the longer doors, real roadster windscreen and thinned doors do the trick in my opinion.

[IMG]This is the car that comes to my mind, got to reread the build, think it used a Fordor cowl. Bob

IMO.... its a '32 car grill, home made hood, '28-'29 roadster cowl, truncated tudor / coupe doors, sport coupe quarters, '33-'34 frame rails ? '30-'31 headlights... been wrong before.

It's the 30-31 firewall that is unique, not the rest of the car isn't. :) Bob

  27. My eye keeps being drawn to that semi-channeled body. Interesting.

I think it is harder to make a 28 and 29 coupster because of the cowl. It' tough to beat a 28 9 roadster cowl. The closed car cowl just doesn't look right...

"Racer Rake" that broken back look that some of the old West Coast Super Modifieds had....I always loved that, and thought it was a really important element to those cars.. I put a lot of thought into that hot rod model.
