Could someone tell me how the spare tire outer ring gets held together on a 36 Ford coupe, one end of the ring has a bracket but nothing to attach it to?

On my '35 it was the same.
It just wraps around the tire and stays in place. The ring is to help remove it.
Then my center cap had the locking device to prevent theft.

They are a bit of a pain to deal with the ring and face pate. Always scratched the paint.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't planning on actually using a tire in it maybe just a tube

You an try that but I think you will find the tube will not support the outer ring.

  7. It's just like 2935ford said. My 36 has one. The band just wraps around the tire and stays in place. No muss, no fuss.

  9. Tape the cover then install the outer ring. Remove the tape. Don't touch it anymore.
