    Good morning everyone,

Was wondering as to the value of a '71 Mopar 340 LA Bare block.
Needs a little love at the machine shop but should be able to live and breathe and growl again........

    Any input would be appreciated......

paid $150 for one around 1990. Needed boring and has a little chunk out of the bottom of a bore. Been in my wife's car for over 25 years now.

Sell it and use the money to buy a 360. Lots better on the street. Last 340 I sold went for 300 and it needed at least a 30 over bore .. Hemmings motor news is a great place to sell that block.

72 or earlier are worth pretty good money as cores it should tell you on the drivers side of the block the cu in and year it was casted. to the guy who said a 360 is abetter engine has obviously never dumped the clutch on a good tuned duster or dart back in the day Tom

the 340 is special....it's a performance engine, the 360 was a smog motor. Sure, you can build either one to do whatever you want, but doesn't it just sound better to say you have a 340? kind of like having a 327 chevy
