    Two possibilities: This is not the train that hit the car on the tracks. Maybe a second train being held up as the situation is being investigated.
    Or maybe this the engine that hit the car and has backed up. This is doubtful in my opinion as if a train hit that car it probably would be far down the track.
    All that said the car is still on the track and I would think after getting hit that hard it would have been pushed off of the tracks.

    Or... given that it's hard to stop a freight train in 50 ft, the auto could have been pushed from the previous RR / road crossing - given all that damage. Either way, the loco in the photo is probably the one involved. As in all our accident reports, let us hope the folks in the car survived. Gary
