  5. You have to wonder who had the idea of putting a lion in a sidecar and flying around inside the wall of death! HRP

Rootie, I'm having problems figuring out the 24 car. Looks like a champ car (wheel base), the 10 looks like a sprinter.

Willie Davis had #24 cars in the sprints.

    thx

It's number 84; the Midwest Manufacturing Special out of Jasper, Indiana. Carl Gelhausen was the owner and Tom Bigelow drove it for a couple of seasons I believe although I'm not sure if that's him in this photo or not. The 10 is Watson's Offy that Mosely and others drove in this same period.

It's the #84 Gehlhausen sprint car with Tom Bigelow up.

This is a great photo, Rootie. It looks to be 1939 with Bob Swanson in the Sampson car and it's very near the Pagoda. And this might be a qualifying photo with Swanson waiting his turn. The man on the track seems to be holding a flag and he is standing right on the starting line and looking down the track like he's waiting on a car to appear on the main straight.

    Thanks for posting.

Admiral Byrd’s snow cruiser passes through traffic and onlookers before halting for the night in Framingham, Massachusetts, on its way to Boston, on November 12, 1939. Traffic was snarled for 20 miles in a jam that involved 70,000 automobiles. Note the two spare tires visible in the rear compartment of the cruiser. main_1500.jpg 2.jpg
