I have my T project just about done and it is sitting on 32 style rails.
I am trying to conceal my wiring by running it under the drivers sub frame, but have found that at the door B pillar position I am unable to get access thru.

Does anybody have some close up pic's of a sub frame turned upside down that I could look at to see why I am unable to get thru.
The way my body is mounted now I can not see due all myriad stuff mounted in position and I can barely get my fingers in to tell what is going on.
To see is to know how to deal with it.
I'm figuring it maybe some kind of block or spacer used to give extra support to the attached door latch pillar.

It appears to be quite a busy position on the sub frame as it has the door pillar plus a cross sub frame member all meeting at the single location...

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Is the subframe the same as a T roadster Russ? If so I can try and snap a pic for you.

Thanks Chris, I have my doubts but they may employ a similar setup under the sub frame.
The door is obviously shorter and probably does not mean that the cross piece plus the main sub frame rail and the door latch pillar all meet as they do in the coupe body.

Take a look at least and see if there is the same possible blockage that would prevent wires going thru.

Maybe if some one has a sub frame sitting around fully or partially dis-assembled that would be best.

If you are using the original sub frame, there is a channel on the bottom side of it. They placed wood strips in it and it looks large enough to run wire through it.

Maybe somebody can recall what they saw at the B pillar, when they cut the subrails for a channelled project?

I have really hard try to remember how it look orginally there.
But looking at my inside pictures i see 2 square holes on the top on the subframe where the
b-pillar is. If your bolts still there that would explain your narrow passage.
And as said above. At least part of the subframe had woods in it.

Thanks Anders, yes there is something in there that is additional to the sub rail and the cross member.
The door pillar is clear but may also be sharing a rivet with whatever is in there.
I'm figuring it is attached to one or more of the two rivet heads I see in the top surface of my sub rail.
There is a member in TX who thinks he may have a disassembled sub frame amongst his stash.
I'm hoping he does and I will get some pic's then...
Until then if anybody else has something to offer please do so.

That is beautiful man, but I want to know what is hidden up inside between the top of the door pillar cross member and the underside of the sub rail.
I guessing it is some kind of metal block or a piece of sheet metal
    .
I'd like to know exactly how it is attached, or better still how it could be best removed...

I guess I am confused as to what you are asking to see. I would like to help, as I have many pictures of my coupe , and others , to figure out stuff on my '27 coupe.

I'll keep on trying for you. Do these help any? Am I getting warm? Which picture is close to where you need.

I replaced my sub-frame cross members. I have not re-rivet them yet, if you mean where the screw is in the last picture.

    Pat, thankyou for your assistance.
Yes, I think you are getting close now.
Looking at your pic P3110021 which is the close up of the area I refer to.
I need to know what is hidden below that screw in your pic.
There is some kind of blockage fitted inside that subrail between the cross member and the subrail, kinder sandwiched between the two members.

Maybe stand that complete sub frame you have on its end and get a torch or lead light and look down the underside of the subrail at the door pillar and see what it could be.
I'm figuring it is some kind of strengthening block or bracket gizmo...
I'd really like to know how it is attached in there.

Well, I am pleased to report that my new friend MMM1693 from MN came thru with the information.
I am very thankful to him & wife for making the effort and taking the pic's
I now have enough reliable information to attempt some keyhole surgery and get that blockage out.
Here are the pic's showing what exists under the subrail at the door pillar and explains why I could not get my bunch of wires thru...
Once again many thanks to Dan & Lucy.

It looks like an anti-crush sleeve to me.

    Yep anti crush spacer.
Not that easy in my case to get out, as they are quite a snug fit.
Also difficult to remove with the two coach bolts that pass thru the hooked area.
Up until about a week ago, I did not even know these suckers existed.
