Hot Rods 40 ford ash trays

Hello, Can you exchange early ash trays for the later style? The early ones don't fit worth a darn. Thanks

early ones push in and slide up-knob at bottom-late ones tilt out-knob at top. They don't interchange/fit but usually the orig ones for the dash fit as needed with a little attention. Usually the problem is in the hinge/spring/bracket on the early ones and requires a bit of work and the little springs replaced (use springs out of ball point pens) I may have a few extra doors around here for both

 

Darn, found a nice pair of the late style,thought they might fit
Came with the brackets.
