  5. Harv those are just beautiful. You are an artist. How many hours do you think you have invested in those two units. Anyone who has attempted this knows it isn't an effortless undertaking.:rolleyes::)

I think you're the only guy I have come across who could prep parts to take to the chrome shop and tell them to put them directly into the copper tank without any additional work.

Most guys who think they can do their own prep don't even come close.

  22. I have a pair of 36 Bones and am using your article to build mine. They will go in a 32 Ford roadster that I bought in 1979. It was a basket case but I am trying to get it on the road since now I'm retired. This also means that I am one a tight budget, so I'm trying to do as much as I can at home. I am running a 300 hp. sbc, 4- speed Muncie and a 59 Ford rear. I said all that to say this. I have cleaned my bones (molasses), cut off the rear kickup portion. I have the 7/8" C.R. and it is turned down for the tie rod ends (Speedway). The oval portion of the bones will be about 44" long. One side has a slight arc of about 1/8" and the other is abt. 3/8". I don't have access to a press, so I am trying to use my port a power. I built a welding table with a 3/8" top plate and have bolted a 3x3x1/4 angle about 30" long to the side that the port a power base will rest against. I have bolted two additional 3x3x1/4" angles abt. 8" long (no reason for the length other than I had them in my pile) . I put one bolt in the center of each of these. I applied force to the center of the tube and it moved abt. 3/4", but sprung back when I released the pressure. Do you think that I should heat the bone to bend it straight. That was a lot justto say that!

I really appreciate it when something like this gets dug up for those of us who missed it the first time around.

A few years ago a fellow on here did a build thread where he built a pair of '36 style tails from flat stock and polished the hell out of them. I believe it was Harv. but not sure. Anybody remember the thread?

  29. I pm'd him weeks ago about a question I had but there has been no response.

Just made contact with Harv, he sounded healthy and upright! In the last couple years he has lost both parents and survived a close forest fire. He also wanted me to say that he will be getting in touch with anyone still waiting for parts he has and he plans on joining the HAMB group again later this year. Hope it's what you wanted to hear!
