my 351 based engine will be required to have a diaper this year. It has an aluminum t pan. Who makes one that would fit a pan like mine
I would call one of the diaper makers and ask. Sure that most would make one to fit your pan if they didn't have one that fit.
Talk about left behind and abandoned.......I am going to show my ignorance and ask for myself and others......Engine diaper? Why and who requires it?
A lot of sanctioning bodies require them. Pretty common requirement in the higher classes for both engines and transmissions, it's to keep oil (and parts) off the track if they go boom...
Our funny car required 2 of them . One was of fiber. (Like fire suit material) the other was carbon fiber.
Some of the lower classes NE 1-2-3 will give you a choice of a soft bag or a metal tray underneath OIL RETENTION DEVICE All vehicles running 7.49 or quicker must utilize an SFI Spec 7.1, 7.2 or NHRA-accepted lower engine oil retention device; may use a belly pan in lieu of a device attached to the engine. The belly pan must extend from framerail to framerail and extend forward of the harmonic balancer and rearward to rear engine plate and must incorporate a minimum 2- inch-high lip on all sides. A nonflammable, oil-absorbent liner mandatory inside of retention device. See General Regulations 1:8.
Thank you everyone! In this day and age it sounded like a gated community thing............like they would let some driveway wrenches live there.....lol!
There is a good diaper manufacturer right here in Central Illinois (Cerro Gordo) http://www.enginediapers.com/
What it really needs is someone else's bank account. That may help make it less likely to shit itself.
I don't think you need one unless it's your local track rule or class rule. I had one on my RED at 8 seconds as per NHRA What a pain it was to wrap around the starter, oil filter and to drain oil. All so to go around side mounts would be a pain. At 11 sec you are not going fast enough. Correct me if I am wrong
