chevy 283 what the heck is this and can i remove it?

just plug it and run a PCV system,you'll have much cleaner oil and a lot less sludge

 

Gotta love older threads on the HAMB. Just blocking off a down draft tube and ran into the canister... another trip now to the Autozone to pick up another freeze plug and I'll be putting the new edelbrock manifold on... Are the old tubes and canisters worth anything?

 

the tubes seem to sell for 50-100 bucks on ebay.

 

No one responding ever said that a lot of the aftermarket intakes have support "ribs" on the underside, that can be clearanced to fit around the cannister. There are also two different length cannisters, a long one and a short one.
