Man...You're killin' me. I need a truck. I've really thought about selling my Shoebox to fund a truck. And I love the late 50's-early 60's offerings. You've got a good one there.

  2. I have a 60 short box big window for sale!

  3. Small update: I have moved onto lowering the rear. I took the rear leaf springs to my local spring shop to have the packs rebuilt and eyes reversed. I also popped the front spring hangers off and will rotate them 180 degrees. This is nessesary for use with reversed eyes, and also lowers the vehicle. I think this combo should lower it 3-4”. If too low, I can always install a block between the leaves and axle housing. In the dark pic you can see where the hanger used to be. New holes will be drilled

  5. Looks good! I will get the springs back next week, so depending on weather and how much I get to "cleaning" stuff I should get it all wrapped up in the next couple weeks

  7. Well had a productive weekend. Started out Friday night by tearing the rear end down and scrapping the grease off of it. Under the layers of grease showed what’s left of white paint haha

Saturday I buffed the housing with a wire wheel and got it primed and painted. The third member is shot so I’ll have to scare one up.

And today, instead of watching the World Series. I got the front spring hangers on the rear end flipped and drilled in the frame. I also buffed what I could on the frame and ended the day brushing some Por15 on it. It’s kind of half ass as I didn’t do the insides of the rails...because I couldn’t clean any of it. But oh well, it looks better 93340ED0-B06B-49B5-A509-02FEA0AE3948.jpeg 2F2739F7-F29E-45A5-9E52-8300472E4663.jpeg

Oh, and I finally got the clunky rear bumper and hitch off the back, too 570E1864-95ED-45CB-850F-62E7B6415094.jpeg 08808DD8-0C85-46B3-85BB-CF6F1152FE38.jpeg

  10. I picked my rear springs up from the spring shop yesterday. They reversed them and rebuilt the whole spring pack. I picked up some 3/8 grade 8 bolts and bolted the front spring hangers to the frame and then hung the springs. I got another 3rd member for the 9” rear and got it all cleaned and painted and then slid the rear end under the truck. I am please with how it sits, it lowered it about 3” total. Still plenty of room between the housing and frame. Still gotta hook the brakes up and throw the driveline back in it.

    Tires and wheels are next.

  14. I finished the rear end odds and ends and my wife helped me Bleed the brakes. Took it for a spin, it drives pretty nice considering I do not have rear shocks yet. Tires and wheels next

The red and white one looks familiar. Was it for sale on the Spokane craigslist a while back?

  18. Yes, I just sold it on Sunday

  19. Truck is looking great... like the way sits...

  20. Thanks Rob, can't wait to get the tires and wheels on it!

    Nice ole truck!

  22. Mounted my tires today and threw em on. I’m kind of wondering if I should have went with a larger rear tire? But I wanted to run the same size all the way around.

    Looking good Chris!

  27. Not a huge report, but I did salvage a headliner that was nice from a truck getting scrapped. Mine someone painted blue and had speakers screwed to the side. Mounted it and instlled a new dome light lens while I was at it. One step at a time...

  28. Took its first maiden voyage out of my neighborhood last night. Did well, actually rides really nice for a lowered truck. Still lots to do but all in all on the road

  29. Well, did a task I was not looking too forward too. Pulled the heavy as hell 4 speed out. I think there was 50 pounds of grease on it too. Ugh what a gross job. But, it’s out, I got the crossmember scrapped and cleaned.

I got the Borg Warner T85 three speed that’s going to replace the crash box 4 speed torn apart and cleaned a few days ago. Had my friend hot tank the case and I got it all painted this weekend as well.

The highlight, was seeing the little raised dot on the edge of the crank flange, which tells me this sucker is a 312 :)
