Absolutely it was the Angeles Crest Hwy. I hadn't been there in years but a couple of weeks ago I had to go to Pasadena from Inyokern and we took the Palmdale cutoff which hooks into the Angeles Crest Hwy. It was a real trip down memory lane. I'm planning to make it a point to make at least one trip a year with one of my old cars for the rest of my life. For those of you who have never been to SoCal its worth the trip to drive this iconic hot rod trail. Most of the world would be surprised to see actual wilderness in the midst of LA county.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the same snow capped range I was looking at in January from the parking lot at the GNRS in Pomona? Bob

A heart warming event, when last night I showed my step daughter this video.
She is a McGee and was born overseas to an American father, she has only ever visited the USA once at the age of 16 in 2012 and currently resides in Australia.
She knows no relatives on her fathers side as he died before they ever returned to the USA as a family which was before the days of the internet etc.
Her father died in his mid 60's, but was of the Bob McGee era.
All she knows is her father James hails from the State of Virginia from a small town near to DC and her dad had a twin sister Karen who is probably deceased also by now, so she kinder suffers from lack of knowing any stories or family history from his side of the family.
I know it gets her down every once in a while as everybody wants to belong and being able to sit down with her and show her the McGee Roadster video seemed to give her a thin but important line of association with kin in name at least.
I note she walks a little taller today, so it must have had an affect on her for now at least.
For me being a long time hot rodder, it now seems to give her a bit stronger connection to me as her step dad...
    Thanks for posting this video.
