Technical 32 grills on EBAY any good?

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by edcj7, Nov 21, 2017.

  1. Because they are not makin em anymore is why they are hard 2 find.

  2. I bought vintique shell and insert. Seem to fit together very well. about 500.00 or so for the pair.

Aren't the people selling the super 5 window coupes selling grille shells also? So far I have heard nothing but raving about how nice their parts are. Kryon32 is sitting on about $12,000 worth of grille shells. I got the complete grille shell off of Deuce Daddy Don's roadster, its perfect.

United probably figures there is already someone making good grill shells, like Vintique or Brookville. Same as the fenders and hoods. Can't wait to see the United '32 pickups in person.

I bought one but it was a Brookville manufactured one and is of good quality. I bought it from a Brookville distributor a while back.

If I never see another '32 grill/rad shell, it will be too soon.
They are getting stuck on anything with wheels.

I purchased a gearhead shell with the insert fitted. Cash price (show special) from gearhead $290 at back to the 50's they also sell at frog follies. I am very happy with the fit and price. Might not be as exact as an original but unless you are doing a 100% concourse restoration I would think that would be good enough for most.

As for the $125 ones on ebay it could be that they are seconds??

I know that at one point CW Moss used to sell the seconds of Vintique shells for about 1/3 of the full price of their good shells. One of the major suppliers in Australia bought a whole heap of the seconds and sold them at full price and said that they were all made like that:(

But if you saw one of the seconds next to a good one there was a world of difference.

Best advice their is. Factor in your time to get it to fit and it's a no brainer. I actually bought it just for the top opening and that's even off. My shell is a complete waste of money and material it is so badly made.

I guess I'm VERY lucky. I bought my almost perfect shell and grill back in 1971 for $21.00.
