I don't have all of the interior mapped out yet. I have been collecting photos and ideas for years. I still need to track down some square weave wool carpet and 2 inch seat belt webbing. Baby steps.

I'm pretty sure I posted this before, one of my favorite trim jobs. Love the ball glove stitch.
There are other shots on Hotrod.com but this pos tablet is slower than molasis in January when trying to view the photo gallery.

I like it too. I like a bit more design in the seat, maybe some tuck n roll or something. I am rethinking my two tone dash, may wood grain the center to match my steering wheel. Decisions, decisions.

That flat base could stand a little sump'n sump'n, but the rest of it makes up for it.

The guy who did that upholstery posted about it on the HAMB several years ago. It's one of my favorites as well.

So what do you guys think about carpeting on the lower part of the door panel and kick panels?

I’d say no carpet on the door panels although I think I’ve seen it done on some 60s and 70s maybe even 80s vehicles.

All my muscle cars have carpet on the panels, not so much on the TA's as they had plastic door pockets. I just noticed the above roadster having it and wondered how acceptable it is in a "traditional" style car.

  11. my dad did it in '57 , you can just see it in this scan of the old magazine.
i replicated it. i think it is a good way to keep the bottoms of the door panels from getting beat up. 12470811353_938c5a6fd1_c.jpg DSCF4406.JPG

I did it on my 61 Impala in 1969 to cover up the trashed lower sections of the original door panels, so I won't say it's without merit.

Actually looking at it again in the examples posted it was looks reasonably good.

I’d probably say go for it if you like it.

    • The factories did it in the cars because one's feet tend to kick the bottom of the door panels and it doesn't hurt the carpet like it would leather! It certainly will help keep your interior looking better for longer! :D

Well I don't wear spurs, and since the doors open backasswards I don't suppose kicking them is an issue. I'm thinking style or ergonomics is the issue.

  17. Some do and some don't and some have 1/2 done.
I never gave it much thought but if it were a really nice interior in crowded footwell I think I'd have to have something down there for protection.
Do they have door panel condoms ?

I like the look of the carpet personally. It breaks up the leather and adds some design beside the protection.

As long as you can match the color of the leather as well as these examples do!

Getting closer to mounting the body. Ran into a couple of small issues, the M/C for the clutch hits the bottom of the car so I have to change it out for a remote fill W/O reservoir and re-make a small line. It is easier to service now with the body off so I will wait for parts to arrive. Too cold out there anyway today.

Thanks buddy. I just want to see it back in one piece! I have parts strewn all over my Camaro and I'd like to dig it out someday.
I did buy some cloth covered wire and harness from Vintage Ford yesterday so I will be ready to tackle the wiring as soon as the body is mounted.

The jury is still out on tail lights, but I thought I'd unbox the 37 units I had chromed last year and put the lenses back in them. They look good but I'm still considering the Zephyr cast units once available from our local artisan.

By the time I got the hardware on my fingers were numb so I gave up for the night. it was either turn on the heater or go inside. Came inside to watch it snow.

My Thunderbird is still covered with parts and tools, and I'm almost finished! :p I haven't seen it since last fall, but I have (mostly) gotten all the roadster parts off the Riviera, which is still pretty much hidden behind piles of "extra" wheels and tires...

My Nova has the grille on it while I get the small radiator brackets plated. What would we do without spare cars to use as parts storage?

Since I don't have a spare car, I've been using the basement and the spare bedroom, my wife is suitably impressed ;) :D:D
