This ad was posted on local CL; https://lincoln.craigslist.org/cto/d/1941-buick-special-turbo-350/6500632245.html I contacted them for more pix and info. They responded with this plus 40 pictures. Sure felt sorry for her losing her husband and all. I replied that I wanted to know the location of the car. Not heard back yet. After a while, got to thinking hmmm, maybe it's a scam. DOH Didn't take long to find the authentic ad using a little amateur sleuthing. https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1941/buick/special/100917157 This picture was the main giveaway; (they didn't quite get the license plate shadow correct; see below) CL ad; the real one; I contacted the real sellers and advised them that someone was using the pix and info for a scam, and if they wanted the ad link to get back to me. So, anyone want to follow up on this and have a little fun? Or maybe some suggestions for corresponding with poor Amelia ?
craigslist is littered with those. dead give away is one picture in the ad and a description written by someone who obviously knows nothing about cars period let alone the one in the ad. I always just flag the ad so it gets pulled
Yep and the I am in the military at a base in ____ and have to sell my car because I am shipping out. My ____ can arrange shipping ones.
That is a Washington car, talked to the owner, who is an older gentleman several years ago at the Snohomish Car show. If I remember correctly, he had it for sale, so they just swiped his add info.
if it was being sold through ebay motors it would be an ebay listing on the ebay site. peepole ar stoopid. I bet she sells it to someone, who wouldn't pass up a deal like that with 5 days to make up your mind?
