An interesting photo of the Jim Hussey Special that was driven to 5th place in the 1947 500 by Jimmy Jackson. However, somehow that doesn't seem to be Jackson in the cockpit. For one thing I've not seen a photo of him wearing a billed helmet in that period. For many years the local department stores would send their fashion models to the Speedway to pose with race cars and drivers and the photos were used in Sunday paper full page ads. I suspect that's what's going on here so it's possible that there is another driver filling in during the photo shoot.

Do you know any more about this shot, Rootie?

    Thanks for posting!

I believe that is Al Miller in that shot and I'm sure you're right that the car was a prop for a photo op for various drivers.

The white man's interpretation. Quite an insult to the local Cherokees.

In 1957, I was 10 years old and still polite, on a trip to Cherokee I asked one of the 'Indians' at a store if I could take his picture with my 'Brownie', he said ''Ugh, 50 cents'', I paid, Clicked, and the photo was the only one on the trip that failed to develop. Last time I asked anyone's pic permission.

Got to be better than 40 years ago. He had lots of cars that even then were pretty interesting. Didn't seem to sell a lot of stuff.

A very, very good attempt at making a new pic look like an old one.

yes, they ruined it, they cemented in curbs and streets. looks like a an amusement park now. before it had no curbs, old fashioned paved streets and it looked real, now it looks fake. they can never leave good enough alone. now they have to worry about some old fogy tripping and falling off a curb !!!!!!
