The newest car there looks to be that 63 chevy biscayne. The oldest appears to be a late 40's early 50's tudor sedan. I think it is telling that people kept their cars longer than they do now because you could maintain them yourself. Never been here before. Pretty neat picture.

  3. The little WW2 surplus gas motor in the back drove the supercharger.
As we all know, part of a blowers power gain is used up running the blower itself, these guys realized they could get more usable power by using a smaller ( I think around 100 hp ) engine instead of driving it off the crankshaft.I don't think the car had some super gain in performance, but it DID open a can of worms.
    NHRA eventually said NOPE!

Hemi up front, small engine (outboard motor based IIRC) running a supercharger feeding the Hemi.

  6. One of our neighbors sons bought one of these late 50's Fords with the power retracting hard top. The whole neighborhood came out to see it in action one Saturday. Do not recall the exact year or model.
Everyone knew everyone on Filbert Street in those days! REAL neighbors!

Does that license plate say "41 CADDY"? Maybe not a vintage shot, but a good job of recreating one.
