image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Ok I'm thinking this car qualifies as a survivor . It was built in the late 50s and has been in the same family for the last 50 years according to the widower
I bought it from . This car has a near perfect body with no rust . Been sitting since the late 70s and not always in doors .

  8. Coleman Coupe built by Don Coleman and owned by Neal East for some time. I have owned it twice and will most likely keep it this time.

This is one my Dad brought home a few months before he passed away. It was chopped in the early 50's. Later someone attempted to channel it and did a very crude job of it. It didn't look like it worked very well. That must have been the death of the car. It sat outside for many years before it was purchased buy a guy, in the early 80's, who stashed it in his barn with the intention of some day redoing it. He had this one and a much nicer 34 3 window Coupe hanging from the rafters in his barn. A friend of Dad's found them and bought the 34 for himself and told Dad about the 32. It didn't take long for him to buy it. It didn't come with an engine. Dad just had a nailhead sitting around in the shop so he sat it in there to see how he liked it. I liked it! Just threw that B&W in there for old times sake. _DSC2614.JPG _DSC2615.JPG _DSC2616.JPG _DSC2626.JPG Now it's my turn to redo this one and I think that nailhead is going to find it's way back in it before it's all over.

I'm thinking the 6 twos would be the icing on the cake.

Mine has been around since 1969. Been in my family since about 1980. The red paint was shot in the fall of '81. I still have the snap on engine cover and still use it on occasion when the weather calls for it. Most of the car is unchanged and anything else can easily be changed back.

Me with the original Owner/ Builder. First time he had seen the car since 1973. This was taken in 2015.

Two that I currently own. the 5 window was built by Harry Leras from Monte Rio California in 1955/56 He was a mechanic in town and did all the work for the local police dept. He used the Buick engine out of a wreck 55 police car. added edlebrock cam and intake with 3 97s, 39 box with zephers a cut down 34 rear end with a ring gear bolt welded on to keep the gear from breaking. still wears the 56 Buick black lacquer paint and same white vinyl interior. Lots of old crome and real revers merc wheels out back. The roadster was a Wisconsin car originally. I found it with a guy in Ill. had been garaged since the 50s when it was taken back from the son of the original owner because he was told he could not hot rod it. I got it as is but with no engine and a 36 trans. I am currently redoing the 50 merc flatty and added a 39 trans with the zephers and also used a 34 rear but cut down the torque tube and installed an overdrive.
    Both fun cars to drive.

  23. Here is my 32 Cabriolet - built sometime in the early 40's as just an average man's hotrod. Had a 59AB in it, but every single thing else was 32 - down to the mechanical brakes, etc.. I've built a 284 cubic inch 42 Merc engine for it (wanted early 40's engine), had to redo the interior as the original was some awful white vinyl - done my Earl's wife with a sewing machine - and trust me, it was ugly . . . had to go. I'm still running the mechanical brakes - wanted to see how well they worked (the car had only 5000 miles on it, so things were not worn out - just put new linings on them). The brakes work well, up to about 55 MPH . . . then they're just not good enough (so taking the car out on the highway really isn't safe). So, I'm going to put some later hydraulics on it - so I can drive it a bit more. Also going to put a Columbia in it - as the 4.11 gears just wear the engine out on the highway.

Here is the original owner 'Earl' and his wife (don't know what she's standing next too?) - his grandson gave me the picture:

Here is is as I found it in 2013 - in the garage it had been in since 1959 (up on blocks):

    Here it is today:

Two of the original 3W in NZ. The fist pic is of our highboy circa 1960 with the original builder. We are the custodians . have built it from just a body as purchased to a driver in 12 months , probably 8yrs ago. Dam reliable car.
The original fendered 3W has been in the same family since 1937. Wow that car can tell some stories , as can the present family owner and his memories as a small child resting on the rear parcel shelf eating ice creams and the cream falls off down his mother neck. kind of gives you a chill when you think how long they have owned it and the crazy tales he tells and adventures they have had.
    Sorry poor resolution phone pics.

Wow, this is a great thread. Here are the two in my stable. The first is a cabriolet that I bought in the 70's. It has been on the road since 1981. The second is a 5 window I bought last year out of a carpenters work shop. It was last tagged in 1961. It came with a truck load of parts some NOS. Car still has it's original Brewster Green paint. Nothing on the car has been done that can't go back to original. Picture 007.jpg Picture 009.jpg PA120721.JPG 32 ford 5w 3.jpg 32 ford 5 window 5.jpg left side 2.jpg
