Thanks, I've read about everything on Christie, most by Lee Stohr. Ive never seen this one though. I believe Lee is on this site as well.

The Thomas is in Reno in the National Automobile Museum. A friend of mine is one of the volunteers who took care of it for years. A few years back the 3 surviving cars from the race were displayed at Pebble Beach. The Thomas had been sitting in the Harrah collection so long that it no longer ran. The other two did. The handlers of the Thomas were embarrassed. My friend said he could get it running. They turned him loose on it and in a few minutes they drove it onto the field. It's good the see it driving in the video. This store was was told to my by the guy who got it going. I'll see him tomorrow and check my facts.
OK, I talked with Al yesterday. They got the Thomas running before they left Reno. There were 3-4 guys working on it. The odd distributer was the main issue. At least one was gleaning the collection and the shops for parts. He has done that for several of the cars there when they needed to run.

Is the Marmon Wasp the very first single seater racing car designed for track ? Yes, se have single seater record cars before the turn of the century, but monopostos, is this the very first in auto racing history?

The 1910 Buick Bug comes to mind, but I would have to think others came before that too.

A few years ago The General Electric Company produced a TV commercial that proposed the Wright Brothers had a JET ENGINE strapped to the top of their airplane during its first powered flight in 1903. The commercial was intended to promote technology but the commercial is the absolute funniest I've ever seen. Funny, funny, funny. Hysterical. This is the short version. Be ready for a huge laugh.

The track is still there, in a very sad state.

  15. In 1938, Jimmy Snyder beat Duray's (Stewart's) record lap time at Indy which stood for nine years, driving Art Sparks' "Big Six". After the race Sparks, out of money, sold the car to Joel Thorne.

Maybe I don't understand your constraints, but Henry Ford's 999 comes to mind.

Frenchtown Flyer, yes, yes, obviously, the 999, in 1902. Thank you. Would this be the first single seater track car?
