Great looking fuelie Enloe. I have said it before, if I had only one choice of an early Vette prior to a 62 I would prefer this color combination-really striking.

That is XP819. GM eventually gave it to SmokeyYunick. Hecut it up for parts, possibly. It was recovered and restored years ago.

    More pictures here.

*Loudbang -- "Yeah, I know, a semi custom mixed in."

Don't offer people a reason to bitch. Let them figure it out on their own. It's great seeing hot rod Corvettes, drag Corvettes, road racing Corvettes and custom Corvettes. I dig them all, and as I've said before, all Corvettes
are hot rods in some way.

Jason really great to see some pics that I have not seen before. The 63/64 roadster has some deep dish wheels with those pie crusts. I don't believe he was into keeping it stock-had much more fun anyways. Cool AM/SP.

It is a shame when I see the 61. I hope the car has received some love since this picture was taken. I painted a Camaro this color and I really like it. Similar to the 1962 Dragnasty. Here is a picture of Dragnasty I took a few years ago at the Meltdown.

Must have been at least mildly popular. Here is another sample that has caught my attention. If the distraction had not struck this pose we may have been to tell if it was a 61 or a 62. I guess we will never know. Nice nevertheless. 1962-corvette-dragnasty-jim-jard.jpg 292229736152_1.jpg

    Jim
Those wheels are EXTREMELY rare Halibrands, 99% positive.
That color looks like the original paint 68 big block Camaro that belonged to a pal in high school.
And you can distract me anytime as long as she's in the picture.

Denny the wheels are familiar from way back but was not sure. What gave me some pause for thought is that the independent rear would not accept these wheels. He must have put an Olds/Pontiac that was narrowed. At least that is my guess. Amazing what a nice set of shoes can do for the proper stance.

Corvette Fever I saw your car up close at Sam's Shell on Woodward a couple or three years ago. The workmanship appeared to be top notch. I have run into some characters that are so NCRS that they would never accept what you have done.

Many years ago when the whole NCRS 100 point deal was in its first phase I was looking at a 63 Coupe at a local event (split windows are my favorite), I was standing back while "Mr Gold Chain" held court with other followers pointing out how correct this nut or bolt was. I just couldn't help myself and asked him if the air in the tires was NOS, he seemed deflated.

You can bad rap purists and restorers but they're not the ones beating the s**t out of 'vettes
and leaving them to rot in back yards, fields and dilapidated buildings.

    @jimdillon

I'm not a regular on this thread so not sure if it was ever posted but thought you and the boys might like this, just happened on it at the Dr's office today, rare to find a car magazine at the Dr's office, at best maybe Car and Driver.

    Complete article here:

    http://www.superchevy.com/news/ro-mcgonegal-remembers-his-360hp-1962-corvette/

Here is part of the article:
Near the end of 1963, I paid a hard-earned $2,900 for this prize; it was a lot of money for the day. Originally, the C1 was Tuxedo Black but I had more to do than run around wiping the body down every 15 minutes, so I had somebody change it. They removed the fins in the door cove and then painted it Cadillac Firemist Red that had been introduced in 1964. It was nicely contrasted by the ET Uni-Lug wheels.
