The manifold will fit anything from 48 up. The head could be narrow or wide. It is probably a wide block head but have to measure to be sure. I don't have the measurements off hand. It is for a 6 of course. I have a set for the wide block. The head I have has a crack but the manifold is excellent. All of the wide blocks are the same. 232-262-308 same block, wide, 51-54. narrow blocks were 232-262, 48-50. Hope this helps. Hud

Is there a plug anywhere in the block that can be removed to add a mechanical oil pressure gauge? I have a 55 308 and there are a few but I'm unsure if they are for oil or coolant.

I talked to Clifford Performance about a Hudson 2 x 2 manifold like what they make for other inline 6s. They said they had the design all done but stopped at the tooling phase due to cost and unsure interest in the market. He said if he could get a minimum of 6 full up dual manifolds w/ down draft Weber carbs setup (like this Jeep one: http://www.shop.cliffordperformance.net/Jeep-258-Twin-38-Weber-Fuel-Delivery-System-08-7001J-258.htm) they would move on the project. These would be the same price as the other makes $1,389 complete. Obviously, he would like to have more than that if possible. This would be usable on a stock engine. The Weber does a better job of atomizing fuel than most other carbs so it sprays into the plenum, not mixes. These systems would be jetted and ready to go as delivered. Yes it is more money but with the price of a stock Twin H going up and up this is not all that out of line. Anyone interested?

I realize that I am responding to a post that is 11 months old, but am interested and hope that gets the count closer to six.

Wanted to let you know we have so far 5 orders so far this week into Clifford Performance and we need 9 orders to get the project off the ground. If you want to call Larry at Clifford Performance and put in an order you can help make this happen! Here is Clifford's number: Phone: 951-471-1161

A friend of mine has a 47 Hudson engine that was rebuilt at a local machine shop, now it has issues with the Babbitt
rod bearings. The original Hudson manual spec.lists.0007 as the bearing clearance. That sounds too tight to me
Could it be a miss print ? Two many 0s ?
Engine is back out and apart ( looking for answers )

    Thanks Norb

.001 to .0025, hard to find a shop that actually knows how to do Babbitt bearings. He needs to get a Hudson mechanical procedures manual. The HET club sells them very reasonable.

You need to contact Randy Maas. He rebuilds the babbit engines. (309 267 6158). If you have any questions about these engines, he can answer it. LHud

Where are you located? There is an excellent engine builder near Tampa (St. Pete) Fla that does Babbitt engine rebuilds. Some Hudson club members have used them.

I think it is getting ready to happen. You need to call Clifford Performance to get the latest update on the project.

I have a 262 with a casting date of Sep 1950. How can I tell when a casting is a narrow or wide block?

@Hudson High the first post in this thread explains it. If the panrail is straight from front engine plate to rear it's a narrow block.

The new Hudson head is shipping and the new 2x2 manifold is next. The intake CAD work is close to being done, we just need to optimize it for sand casting. Here is an earlier 3D printed version for those interested.
