I went to buy a "rat rod body" I noticed on a local AZ FB for sale page. I dont know Ford's and grew up around Chevrolet's so I thought I was buying a Model A as some "yard art". After getting it home and set on a '28 Chevy chassis I snapped a couple pics and went to bed. Woke up this morning and decided to do a little research to figure out what year A I bought. After looking at pics of A's, I am realizing I am an idiot. Guess I bought a '32 Ford 5 window with the roof cut off. Its ugly as hell and no panel looks to be useable for anything. I plan to keep adding random shit to it like I do with other pieces of my "yard art" I think it is worth the $400 I paid[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  2. Probably not worth any more than you paid in my opinion.

You'd be surprized what guys on here can do with nothing. If it's a '32 Ford or a '40-'41 Willys these guys will go through hell AND high water to save it.

  5. The way the doors are, makes one think it could have been an old hot rod.

  6. I'm a Deuce guy but it appears you have the remains of a coupe, but I'm afraid all you have is some yard art. HRP

That and someone else's pieces might just make a body. it has the look of one of those 50's channeled rods that they cut the bottoms of the doors and raised them up to the level of the floor. Now you have to wonder who on here is looking at those photos and going out to look at the pieces he has to see if it's just possible to combine pieces and make a coupe.

If that was mine, I would have an order coming from United Pacific already. Totally fixable body, that would be far less $ to fix than buying a new U-pac or usable original body.

So. 400 to 260,000. Possibilities are endless.
Either way, it gets the thumbs up in my book.

That body is just a mild challenge for either of these guys.

Did the person you bought it from give you any history on it? Is it possible they might still have any of the missing pieces? Please don't use it as yard art. Let one of these guys build it back up as a coupe. I'd be in it too behind the previous guys who stepped up to say they wanted it.

I don't know anything about the value, especially not on your side of the pond, but it's only sheet metal and there are plenty of people who can start out with way less than you've got there and end up with a perfect body.
If all you want is yard art, I'm sure someone might be willing to trade you another suitable body from a (from the hotrodders point of view) less desireable model.

I agree, put it up for sale or bid. Needs a roof and a couple of doors. Cowl, quarters and even the deck lid look saveable. Lots of work, but that 32 Coupe has been treated poorly long enough and deserves to live again as a Hot Rod!

The guy I purchased the body from had bought it at a swap meet a while ago for $500. He had only dropped it in front of his body/paint shop and left it till he decided he would never get the rat rod built. He was going to put bullet holes in it to make it more "rat". [IMG]

Well worth the $400 you paid. And it deserves to be more than yard art. Pull the body off the frame and sell it to a 32 guy that will make something of it.

  25. The four hinges are worth some money. Latches, too if they are there. Some of the sheet metal could bring another car back.

I've seen more than one built out of bondo over the years. From the days a lot of guys who thought they were doing body work but didn't own a hammer and dolly.
The more you look at it the car may have been a dirt track car that someone decided to make a "roadster' out of. It probably wouldn't look as bad if it was in bare metal with all the dents showing.
When you look at the 34 coupe that 51Farmtruck started with and what it has become you see anything is possible. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/lytles-garage-34-5w-fuel-coupe-build-thread.1094235/

Well the one thing we all do know for sure is that is rough as a cobb. It also is a deuce and they are always worth saving. It won't be cheap or easy, and it will cost some cash even if you are able to do the work yourself. In the end it is still a deuce and damn right it should be saved. If you cannot or will not do it yourself, move it along to the guy who can and will.
