The last Grasp Special '34 3 window build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by whodaky, Mar 23, 2012.

  1. A couple of sweet looking young ladies seemed to really like Geoff's 3 window at the Kustom Nats...
The detail Geoff has gone to on this coupe was outstanding and especially with the interior and up underneath.

  2. Really glad to hear the news about your 5 window Geoff - it's an inspirational Hotrod to so many of us. Looking forward to the progress pics as the rebuild takes place.

  3. I seen Darren's coupe in the flesh tonight, what a great looking car...

Thanks Garyd for your images from last evening at The Reliability Run.
Also thankyou for the kind words regarding my beat up old 3W. Although it did have a lot more charisma when it had the 2 ladies in your life sitting in it. I took the liberty of playing with your image and using it on a cover.

th.jpg whodacky I knew you would find out!!! It was a very hard decision to chop and channel the coupe but when we filled the quarter vent windows we knew it was the right decision!!

  6. Final few pics from the weekend - the RCCRC as usual put on great weekend, thanks to the event organisers, great work.

The starting point yesterday was some old railway - fire brigade sheds in Newport, an absolute superb lot of old buildings and memorabilia

  7. A new shed bin I brought at the auction last night, a big thanks to Tony's daughter Renee for taking it to Justin's today for me - it wouldn't fit in the roadster. Great work by the Bails boys with the paint work.

Thanks for the images GaryD. It looks like it was a good turn out.
Darren dropped by yesterday and said he and Glen had a good time and met a lot of new people.
    Here's a new cover I just completed.

Thanks for some great images Pat. I think I may be able to use a couple of those images for future covers.

Some great covers again Geoff! It was good to see the photos of your 3W at Phillip Island, I heard it was pretty hot....

I have just spent time staying with Chad and Tracy Williams and the Falzon’s in Syd. We flicked through photo albums and home videos from the Nationals in the 90s which you featured heavily in mate which was great to see.
Even sharing stories of the times you’ve generously let us drive your 5W coupe which was a real blast.

    Hope you’ve been well mate.

    Hey Pat.
Wow there's some memories being dredged up. Yeah all good, in fact great memories, of friends made and time spent traveling in my coupe.
Having Brendon drive away in the 5W on Sunday afternoon was different. It has been a while since I have seen it driving down the road by some-one else. Even though it is showing the ravages of what that 5W and I went through together, it still looks great.
From reading stuff on Facebook this last couple of days, I guess I didn't realize how significant that 5W has been to others, as well as to me. I guess I just took it all for granted.
Maybe one day I will write down my exact thoughts of this last few weeks in relation to moving the 5W on.
It is quite emotional to think and write about this. So I think I will just leave it for now.

  28. They just keep getting better and better Geoff, first time ever this year I am heading to the DLRA with my brother in-law - I just wish it had some of the cars that were running back when that image was taken still running today...

You'll enjoy yourself GaryD. I remember the time Tony travelled with me from Iron Knob, on the dirt into the lake. He couldn't believe the fun I was having throwing the coupe into the corners. Or maybe he couldn't believe I was treating the coupe like that. Maybe I am just a redneck at heart. A lot of memories I have been having writing the history about our race car this last week or so.
