Good day all.....I am working on this olds I save from extinction..... Picked up an original running engine from Moe, Now the task is to repair the body....solid body, frame except for passenger side . Window was missing....floors are repairable.....but the rocker below the door is really bad... any information on where to get one...or one that is close to the same design ..37 chevy, 37 buick? Thanks in advance for the information.....mike in michigan
Your Olds is the smallest 'A' body (F-series with horizontal grille bars) and the same platform as Chevrolets and Pontiacs; Buick Century, LaSalle 50, Cadillac 60 and Olds 'L' series (With egg crate grill) were larger 'B' body; Cadillac 65 & 70 and Buick Roadmaster were next largest 'C' body; and Buick (90) Limited and Cadillac 75 were the largest 'D' body. Grab a tape measure to double check length and then check profile. L&R are available as are other replacements rust repair panels.
WARNING!!!! the 37 oldsmobile IS NOT A CHEVY BODY!!!!!!!!, 1937 CHEVY PARTS WILL NOT FIT CORRECTLY AND YOU CAN NOT MAKE THEM FIT, THE EMS GUY
Hello I used a metal shrinker to put the curve in the chevy part. Made a wooden die to finalize the shape. the rkr fits good...thanks for the info mike in michigan
Try this guy, don't know him, never bought from him. Seems pricey but looks like he has what you're looking for. http://www.exploringthenorth.com/kemp/replacement/parts.html
chevy rockers do not fits oldsmobiles, just because you were able to massively rework a part and build all kinds of wooden bucks to beat it into shape is great for you, BUT TO tell every one that it does fit is a injustice to others making them think it can be done, and when it fails it is the fault of ems auto and then we have a huge customer service issue to deal with, the time spent telling other it does not work and the returns and bad blood between ems and customers is costly. you proved nothing.
WARNING WARNING WARNING DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THE SO CALLED 'A' BODY IDEA CHEVY PARTS DO NOT FIT PONTIAC OLDSMOBILE OR BUICK . CHEVY PARTS WILL NOT FIT CORRECTLY
TAKING THE WRONG PART AND CUTTING WELDING BANGING ON A PIECE OF WOOD HAS PROVED THAT CHEVY PARTS DO NOT FIT OLDSMOBILES,
WILL NOT FIT PONTIAC OLDSMOBILE BUICK OR CADILLAC AND DO NOT GET FOOLED BY SO CALLED A-B-C--D DESIGNATIONS
Their parts look good. Prices or out of my budget (cheap ass) but if you're doing a perfect restoration I think they are the way to go. I prefer to build my own panels mostly because of economics but I also like cutting, bending and welding metal.
I did go to their website....I ordered the rh rkr....The one we reworked fit like a glove.... For $200 we can make a splash off this part and make some kirksite dies...
excuuuuuuuuuuuuse....me...have you ever looked at the General Motors Concept cars....there all hand built from SCRATCH......that's what I do......fabricating parts for 35 years....
Well, if you're such a fabrication genius, why didn't you just make them in the first place? And fit means out of the box. Modifying something to fit instantly means that the part did NOT fit to begin with. If it fit, you wouldn't have to modify it. As a metal genius, it may have taken you 3 hours of modification, but you are not everyone. From the picture you are painting is that the Chev parts 'basically' fit. Plainly, they don't. But you are a fabrication genius, the rest of us are only human.
