Thank you all for the encouragement. I originally started this thread because I had a bunch of questions I was going to ask about building this coupe, but most of the answers are already here. All the build threads I've looked through and all the searching I have done have produced most of the answers. Making up the rest is the fun of this hobby.

I have to thank all of you for putting it all out there for everyone to enjoy. This year started out busy for me, but I intend to get the body together this year. I love building, but I am anxious to drive it.

The gauges are done. It took 2 weeks, but it was a nice project

There is an old australian saying that dates back a few generations, and that was born out of necessity. 'The sign of a good aus tradesman is some one that will turn their hand at anything.' This couldn't be more true with people like you and many others on here. It is great to see people honing skills and just having a go. After all that is what is about isn't it.

Thank you guys for all the great comments. It is encouraging.
Time for a few more installments.
Made a battery box to tuck in the passenger side floor boards. It goes in from the bottom. It is heavy to lift in, so I might try to make it a drop in.

Bought a walker radiator that is shortened 6". Might have to drop it down another inch. Hard to say until the shell is cut down to match.

Back to the rear. Trying to get this body together

Rear quarters on for the last time.

Making a piece for the top panels to mount to. This shrinker stretcher is a wonderful tool.

Slowly fitting it together.

Will try to make another sunvisor and fit the top to it.

Forgot to soak the sedan rear window in molassas

Decided to build the trunk frame

 

I was going to narrow an old behind the seat gas tank which was not going to work. I thought making one would be more fun and save a few bucks. 18 gauge worked great.


A few holes and it is looking ok

14 imperial gallons will be enough.

Another floor panel for under the tank.

Panel out of the molassas. Try it for a fit.



The roof panel looks well. Slow going ,bot it is starting to look like a coupe.

It is from a 1951 Ford victoria.

 

I would not section your grill, because you have to cut the shell,cut the grill outer frame and shorten all the bars, instead notch the shell at the point where it's hits the frame and then add a filler to the lower filler panel and this is what you get. Notice the ruler is sitting on the roll edge not the actual seam subtract the difference and you get about 3 inches.

I spent some time down in and around Rosetown SK last year and boy I wish I'd known you were not that far away.
Maybe some of your talent could have rubbed off onto me.

and be sure to paint that whole lower area flat black, NOT BODY Color...

check out the '32's that have painted area below radiator body color !!! ..
to me, that Just LOOKS so wrong, I realize its accepted.. Just seems it would looks so much better if area below radiator was flat black

( of course most would look better, IF they were ALL done MY WAY !!!)

Crazy Steve got me going with his wiring 101 so I made a fuse box that will hinge down under the dash for easy access






Off topic. 2 cases of beer got me this. Not sure what will be done with it. Bunch of parts cobbled together. Don't know what the cowl is from.


Was concerned about the roof. There comes a time when you just have to jump in and git it done.

 

Nice job on the roof - that came out looking great! I might have missed it, but did you form that from a flat sheet or use a donor?

 

Made some drip rails out of half inch tubing and used panel bond to install



For the last 5 years I have wanted to build an air jack because my Impala is long and low and a bitch to jack up with a floor jack. Finally got around to it. Works great.

 

Simplestone It is from a 51 ford victoria and it fits like it was made for it. Fits perfect.

 

Thanks Reyn - that's good to know. I've been following your build because I have a 29 coupe in the barn that I will "someday get to". It should probably be listed in the barn finds thread because we purchased it about 30 years ago and it's been our barn for the last 20...

Hey Binger I took a look at your build. Great job. Looks like a fun ride.

 

You are doing a fantastic job on this coupe - loving what I see.

 

Tried my hand at a visor. Decided to do the edge in wire. Was going to lathe up some dies for the bead roller to do the job, but it was a lot of work for a one time thing, so I tried it with hand tools and it wasn't too difficult. First practice was OK. Made a pattern with 1" less height for a bit more visability for when the roof is chopped 3"





Made a couple crude tools and a pattern to help out



The result worked out to be a keeper.
