I’m in the beginning stages of building a 41 willys truck, I have no chassis and will be building my own. I know that the stock wheel base is 104 inches but I have no way of determining where my cab needs to sit on the frame (I don’t have front fenders yet). Is there anyone that could measure from their front axle centre line to the leading edge of the door? Thanks in advance for any help! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Check out the West Coast Willys Club on the web Mike Brattland has put most of those specs in the pages assoc'd with the different Willys years/frames.
I know a guy that runs a ‘40 coupe with the Nostalgia Gassers Association and his wheelbase always looked a little off to me. His chassis work was done by a well known local shop and when I asked him he said that his wheelbase was 102”, factory stock, but his one piece front end was molded from a ‘41 and that w/b is 104” accounting for the slightly “off” look. You might consider having front sheet metal (or fiberglass) before mounting the body. I would let that be the determining factor.
I have a 1939 frame and a 1940 frame and the difference is in the front frame horns and the front spring mounts that attach to them.
