    At GNRS, are they your cars axle?

    Neato, too bad the HAMB limits to 65 and earlier as I would love to see them, maybe you could PM some shots to me.
    At one time my 67 was to be an L79 tribute car but even though it's a hot rod now it has way too many suspension mods to fit in here. Every time I post photos they get removed so I like to at least verbalize about them.

  2. I think that we have a tendency to see the good ol days as just that the good ol days.
    Dickens said , "They were the best of times they were the worse of times. . ." he was either a soothsayer or a very observant man. ;)

    @axle just an observation, I am not sure that I have ever actually heard a definition of or actually given it any thought but your definition of "Muscle Car" is actually pretty damned accurate. One thing that I have always found interesting is that pre-GTO cars were not considered by the masses to be muscle cars. 409 Biscaines, 406 Galaxies, Max Wedge Darts all would have been included had the term been coined prior to '64. I am glad that you decided to include some of them in your exhibit. Looks like fun to me.

    Did somebody say GTO? I got this Montero Red 65 from safari-wagon a cpl yrs back. It'll be "day 2" with some minor differences, wheels, and the gratuitous speed equipment decals on the inside of the decklid. After the 39 is done I'll start on this.

    I`ve never liked muscle cars. Except for Hurst Olds, Baldwin Motion cars, Yenkos and other similar varieties. It seems like everybody USED to own a muscle car.

    Don't get me wrong, I have a garage full of OT classic muscle cars, newest one is 69. All rare, all big displacements, all perfect. I leave them off here out of respect for the rules...and because Moriarty deletes the pictures faster than I can post them. :cool:
    To put it in redneck comedy style;
    "if your car has white letter TA radials, you may get deleted"
    "if you car has a factory paint job that includes names like plum crazy or go mango, you may get deleted"
    "if your car was built after the release of Doctor Zhivago, you may get deleted,
    "if your car has a factory wing on the trunk lid, you may get deleted"
    "if your car has an original cassette deck, you may get deleted"
    "if your car has 5 MPH bumpers, you probably aren't on the HAMB reading this"

    :D:cool::rolleyes:

    I like playing by the rules, except poker and golf. Cheating is part of the game.

    Muscle Cars originated when the ad agency coined the termed and it went into popular culture courtesy of those adds. The idea of a big engine in the smallest body of a particular make goes back way earlier. An example may be the Buick Century with the large straight eight in the smaller body. So the term may originated around '64 but the reality/concept is way older. There can be no debate.

    Hey! I'm tellin!

    I too respect this place and would never pop a 69 Camaro or Cobra Jet Torino on here. If I offended with my GTO pics please dump em. But being a 65, being "day 2" especially, I thought it was this world's "punk ass little brother" based on it's age and coming out at the tail end of our world. I wouldn't post a 64-5 Mustang either unless it was a drag car or otherwise subject to the madness this era started so long ago. Watson,Winfield, Barris, all applied their unique craft to this new breed of car. While I personally see the end times for us at 1971 I'm always just another swingin dick around here and I'm sorry if I instigated any distess. But hey, I'm still tellin! I didn't start it! ;)

    I always thought it odd that no 65 Mustangs are allowed, but Valiant's with big curved back glass are ok to join in. Hmmm, maybe that's the reason.

  29. I've never owned a muscle car- not sure why- just never happened-

  30. Just a note . What many consider to be the first muscle car, the 64 GTO, was 325 hp with a 4 bbl., and 348 with Tri-Power.
