I picked up some 15” Ford steel wheels, but they have 4 hubcap tabs as opposed to 3 that I commonly see on Ford wheels....any idea what they are off of? I need to find 2 more. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Looks like it never had a hubcap on the center. It used a full wheel cover. Will that help you narrow down the search?
@Crazy Steve Any idea what the width and backspace is? I haven't taken the tire off to measure. Looks like 5.5" or 6" inch with 3.75" BS.
You can get them on a lot of trailers. Utility and what not. They should be 5 x 4.5. A lot of generators and equipment used these. I myself found them on a pull behind welder. Have a few of em.
The safety rim bead was federally mandated in 1966, so they're around that age. The date code may be stamped in the recessed part of the hoop.
Lots of Ford wheels look exactly like that. All that said I have no idea when changed from a clip to a nub, the wheels on my brand new 63 Fairlane were just like that.
Have a set of rims from an OT Crown Vic. They are 5 on 4 & 1/2 bolt pattern . About 15"x6 & 1/2" wide. They look similar to the red rim pictured above. I believe they have 4 tabs, but will look when I get home tonight. -Dave
My '90 or so, CV rims have the four nubs as I thought they did. Anyway that gives you something newer to look for too. -Dave
The newer ?? (90 or so CV wheels) have 4 nubs. Only 2 of them actually grip the hub cap, the other 2 just hold the cap centered. They also may be a different size circle and not fit the hub cap you want to use.
If you want wider ones GT Torino or GT Mustang . 5x4.5 BC x 7 inch wide . This sytle wheel is also available in 5x5.5 BC also , from a pickup truck/Bronco . The hub cab from a 4.5 or 5.5 BC will fit either wheel . I had a set on my 48 F1 that were from an International Scout that were 15x5.5 BC x 8 inches wide . Jeep also used same wheel for a while .
Don't know the center hole diameter but I've run these rims on a 15 year old Ranger truck and they're on my 1960 Fairlane with drums now. Just making a suggestion on what to look for. -Dave
