  4. Good stuff boys! I'm BACK! last week end was the combination of many storms coming together. I have been working with a Mac that has been limping along since a week prior to Christmas. Since my job is dependent of my Mac, this was not good, especially because it was dealing week... well my brother came to the rescue, driving a serviceable iMac to me from his home in New Mexico! Thanks Stephen!!!

T-Bucket Nailhead Roadster. an old sketch I had never finished, until now. Note the paper's edge, LOL!

Nice start. It's been a while for me. I have been working on a few commission pieces, and haven't had to much time for my self. But a couple of friends I did work for, said it was okay for me to share. So here is a couple of pieces I have been working on. Great show everyone. 55-ford-m-w1.jpg 55-ford-m-w5.jpg 47 PLYMOUTH4.jpg 47-Plymouth.jpg

    Hello,

Way back in 1965, the style of FED race cars was beginning to change from the late 50’s to the more modern styling. Many streamlined dragsters were designed, but wind tunnel testing showed that for ¼ mile, the streamlining did not have that much advantage over one without. Yes, at Bonneville, streamlining works and is part of any build to go faster.

My first try at drawing a streamlined FED was with a Potvin style, front mount, 671 blown Chevy (like the Dragmaster) but in a sleeker design. We knew the Dragmaster Chassis and motor combo was fast and could be faster, ala Cyr and Hopper’s record setting SBC. Would it have worked at the drags? At this time period, there were other streamlined FED race cars.

Remember, this was 1965, late at night, while taking a “study” break.

The Modern Version: The front wire wheels became lightweight Titanium discs. The rear Halibrands became the same streamlined Titanium discs. Now, it was ready for the ¼ mile and ½ mile drags in So Cal, as well as the long, flat Bonneville race course. The equal length headers were tucked inside of the rear wheel, but were angled to blow the smoke back, away from the spinning tire. The minimal front air scoop was just a sliver without disturbing the streamline effect of the smooth body.

Picture a slip-in key, similar to Tommy Ivo’s early Buick FED, then removed for racing at the start line.

After years of my son hearing me talk of a dream '55 Chevy, he pretty much nailed it with this car from the Forza video game franchise. Who said kids today don't dig old rides.

Now to get my act in gear and work toward a real life ride.

  23. Oh, I had a customer request some stripes on a vintage resto-mod bicycle. Thought he did a great job on design/construction. Honored to stripe and letter it...
