  26. 5 year old Dean Thompson in his Bruce Bromme built 1/4 midget. Any so cal sprint car fan knows that Dean grew up to be the king of ASCOT. He started right out with us big boys in 1/4 midgets, and became hard to beat very soon. Sadly, he was gone way too soon.

  28. A 7.5 cu. in. air cooled Continental flat head. Stock, 2.5 HP. In 1957 the engine in my Kurtis put out over 10 hp on a dyno. That engine won the National Championship in 1957, and I still have it in my garage.
