Minimal progress but still progress. Finishing off around the top edge so the door and quarter panel upholstery tuck under the edge so no upholstery is seen from the top down. Seemed easy enough. Threw away the first 3 attempts and settled for the cut and paste method. The guys who make body filler need to eat too. Looks like the engine will need to set a little lower overall and a little more work n the rear. Work progresses on the rear body as well.

RIDZ8369.JPG IMG_0050.PNG That is my own personal project. It got back burnered when I opened my mouth about this give away car. That and I was waiting on my cylinder head to get done. With any luck, it will hit the road this year as well. It is mostly hand made as the touring front half I had was pretty trashed. The windshield started as a 36 Ford closed car, It is running a 153 4 cylinder Chevy with a lump ported head and a T-50 5 speed tranny with a banjo rear. Grille shell was a tractor hood with a tad bit of work done to it with custom grille inserts. RIDZ8369.JPG

This was the 2 day thrash to get it to a show they wanted me at. It is just rattle canned as we speak waiting to get sanded back out for body work and real paint. The majority of the assembly happened in less than 8 hours. 1-8-17 017.JPG 1-8-17 018.JPG 1-8-17 019.JPG 1-8-17 021.JPG 1-8-17 022.JPG 1-8-17 027.JPG

I haven't even gotten my garage cleaned out enough to get both cars in this winter and you've done all of that. Nice work buddy!

Thanks for the pictures on the black car that's what real early hot rods were about. Frank

  9. Great build thread. Can you give more info the Citric acid dipping process you are doing? Where did you buy the Citric acid at? Was it in bulk like a 55 gallon drum? Keep the updates coming.

I bought the citric acid off eBay. 20 pounds to 50 gallons of water is how I mixed it. Yes it’s a powder deal. I found out after I bought it on eBay, that I could buy locally as well.

Well a friend of mine talked me into hammering in the belled holes. So I guess that will how it will be. 6F6D88D7-2873-4425-AB5D-4B88EC81BD37.jpeg F781B5C0-A0E5-4D7D-BF64-DE82BCC5A0D1.jpeg

Sometimes stupid little things to take way too long. Trying to get the Turtledeck fit tonight and the tail pan welded in. Need to keep pressing forward. 1FE8DF74-F0E1-406F-B156-ADDE8C66A07F.jpeg 8DFBB429-F31E-4DED-9830-1DC034B9CF83.jpeg 78A5E259-4CC8-479F-99F9-57B2C5CBE671.jpeg DC0771B2-31A4-4BC4-8904-D57C9F7DA0A4.jpeg

Figuring out how to mount the trunk hinges kind of looks like a bad game of tic-tac-toe. 6CBA1564-9A6E-4CA8-92F4-6701E6559523.jpeg

I have a couple different offers to finish it up and will know which way it will go this week. One is an old friend I am using a favor with, the other is someone wants no to make a donation to the charity. Either way, the rams horn manifolds are heading out for powder coat tomorrow. I have a place donating all of the powder coating. So I guess wheels and suspension parts will get powder coat. I also ordered a heater and have an idea using a buggy blanket to keep warm for cold weather roadstering.

A little progress on the trunklid. Forgot to prestretch my beads so took awhile to get the panel back to not having a twist. Oops. It’s not all gravy. The shop cat supervisor reminded me to slow down and not forget the latch. I guess it goes back to when I was a kid sealing and stamping envelopes in the bank basement in Hanover Illinois. I was helping my Grandpa and Grandma Glasker among others send out letters to the citizens trying to raise money to get that small community their first ambulance. I have spent many nights awake wondering what mark I am leaving on the world. I guess I just see this car as a way to leave my mark, however small it may be, on this world.
My patient asked if my child had a heart defect. If not, why was I doing this. My answer was simply why not?
It may not be an ambulance, but I hope it makes a difference to someone.

Not perfect, but I am going to leave it that way as this car is for those with a less than perfect heart. 3A8EF2F3-5AAF-4E56-A948-0638FF5C4E77.jpeg

Getting closer. Still needs a hammer massage and a mud bath, but slowly creeping closer. Mud bath. That's funny!

But basically that's how all the pros do it nowadays anyway. Skim coat the entire body and sand until you hit a high spot. I guess it will be stronger than a bunch of blocked out primer though.

I saved the curves and louvered sections of the shell before I scrapped the rest. Looks like a decent start to the dash.

Shop cat says it’s time to go to bed for the night. Back at it tomorrow after I go to work on my day off. Plus I’m out of gas for the welder. A67E4B22-46E1-49CC-8EAE-8F856A4534CE.jpeg 711AEAFA-3628-4CBC-9F6D-AC262A12CC46.jpeg B4A32767-94A0-4D5B-976C-F41F0F2EFF06.jpeg
