Hot Rods Ford Model A Coupes - How Good Are They...

YES! Just like that. You even have the Model A radiator shell, which I actually prefer ( I realize I'm in the minority around here on that). That is gorgeous my man, just gorgeous.

 

I agree with you,the mail slot Model A's are great when your young and skinny and being bent like a pretzel is no big deal, guys like us that have a lot of hard mileage are not good candidates for a heavy chopped coupe. HRP

 

A Model A coupe hotrod is simply "old school classic." Here's my 31 money hole in the garage. The first shot is with the 350 and deuces before the 350 died. The second is with the 383 stroker and quads as it is now.

 

Yep I think that a few times I have been rode hard and put up wet. We still got some fun left in us its just not as easy to find as it was 40 or so years ago.

 

Are there any examples of Model A coupes other than standard coupe bodied hot rods.
I'd be curious to know how many variations of the coupe body Ford did offer???

 

I don’t know what the story was on this one.
I don’t think that they were sold to the public.
Others on here may know.

 

Wasn’t trying to be offensive, just my way of trying to get others to post their cool model A’s.
I love all the early fords. In fact a few weeks ago I spent a few hours at the local Model A display. Best car day I had last year.

That sure is an odd looking body, maybe it was a leather back in a previous life or just home made improvised!!!
As 3 window coupes go it sure ain't as pretty as a 1932 Ford 3 window coupe styling.

Maybe somebody older than me can tell us if the Cabriolet was actually a coupe or possibly a convertible???

Don't do it, I had this mint 29 coupe and at a weak moment sold it to a good offer, but now wish I had kept it.
It was rock stock but had so much potential for a simple hot rod project.
I've shot myself in the foot twice like that now so never again...
I was the 3rd owner, 2nd owner inherited it and was not into old cars.
The original owner was an old lady who was over 100 years old when she died so I was told.
I wish I knew more about the history.

 

Ya think? I can't imagine why no one has ever recognized their contributions either. How have we overlooked that for so long?

 

Fiftyv8: The cabriolet was a convertible (model 68c) . It had roll up windows and a none folding windshield unlike a roadster. The sport coupes had a fabric non folding top.

 

Well, I guess with the top up on a Cabriolet it would look like a coupe but down it was probably the first ever coupster, if my imagination is right.
Wow the first coupster factory made...

 

Coupster, is pretty much a newstalgia term for them. Back in the day it would have just been called a coupe with its roof hacked off.

 

Well I have decided to add the Cabriolet/Coupster to the POLLING.
That should make things interesting.

 

I've actually never seen a Cabriolet that I would know.
With its top up I could have just assumed it was a some kind of coupe and with it down may have assumed it was just an unfinished sport coupe project or similar...

 

I believe that Chris @Corn Fed has the neatest A coupe ever. I seen it before paint while working on my own ‘30 coupe highboy. Had to be 1990-91.

Fiftyv8 : A cabriolet has "S" shaped landau bars on the sides of its roof that pivot when the top goes down.

 

Yes, I have seen coupes like that, I just thought they were a custom add on.

 

You nailed it with every build! Man I like your style. If I was to ever redo my sedan, and I would love to, I would follow your style.
