Impressive build guy's. Keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing your work op close at the Meltdown.
talking about the little circle in red on the core plug? That's a temperature disc doo-hickey...I've seen them before on reman heads, they pop off if the motor is overheated and the mfr will void the warranty for cracks/warping due to the engine being overheated. Take it off if you don't like how it looks, just a normal core plug behind it.
I had those I my last Pro Comp heads, sorta like the red thingy that pops on the Turkey when it’s ready I sold those little 2.05” intake turds so I can get a good pair of AFRs with a 2.10”, now where’s my beer? Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
When you increase the intake valve size to 2.08",those "turds" move a lot of air,if the guy doing the porting knows a thing or two. Mine are making over 620hp on 368" motor that runs on pump gas when I wanna head down to the cruise night at the A&W. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Hey Norb! We've got the Shaker sold pending payment, but the Buddy I sold it to will still allow me to run it at the Meltdown (and hopefully the fallout). I'm planning to pick up the fastback from our incredibly patient friend Jackson in the spring time. Going to pull those dang shock towers out of it as soon as we get it home and rolled in the shop!lol Sorry for the thread hijack.... Scott Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
It’s ok it’s getting stale as we get closer to the end anyways lol Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Getting that thing fired up ought to freshen things up a bit....The first time you start it,you're gonna be like a kid on Christmas morning. Scott Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Wow! The Great Scott talks of a car. Just a note if you don't have push rods yet make sure you understand how to check length.
You should be deep into the 12's with that combo. 4.30 will keep it fun on the street, too. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
If it's strip only,I think you left a lot on the table with that gear. Was it a set you guys already had on the shelf? Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Just thought it would be good for a beginner nothing too rediculous Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
It'll be nice and easy on the motor through the lights, but at 110mph you'll only be turning around 5600rpm,at 115mph about 5900. For your combination (I'm not 100% clear on what your cam ended up being),I think that might be leaving about 1000rpm worth of high gear pull on the table. I'm gonna go out on a limb, and guess that a year from now,if this stays a track-only car, you're gonna be swapping in a 4.56 or 4.88 gear, and a looser convertor around a 5000-5500 stall speed. Personally,I would just leave it exactly as is,and have fun on the street, too. It's not so radical that you couldn't take it down to the local cruise night once in a while. Ya that’s the plan is to just have fun with it, maybe down the road it will see the street ur main goal is to take this hunk of junk I found in July and finish it for the meltdown Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That combo should be a hoot, but I don't think it will take too much to get it into the 11's. As soon as you make a few passes, the hook is gonna be set,and it won't be long til you're turning up the wick and hunting for an 11 second time slip. That car,and your Uncle's Falcon are gonna be fun ones to watch at the Meltdown this year. Working hard to get mine ready in time.Looking forward to making some passes with you guys and hanging out. Hey Scott, this seems to confirm that you will make the Meltdown this year? And Dad too? I look forward to seeing you both in July
Yes Finn, We will definitely be there. If Dad can't make it,my oldest Boy will be with me,but I hope to bring the whole Family this year. It's been way too long, and we're looking forward to seeing you also.I will never forget your generosity two years ago when you drove me all over the state to get those parts to fix the car. You're a great friend, and a true Gentleman. Scott Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
That's something I like about this gig. Nobody gives you stink eye for looking over their shoulder. Everyone is glad to lend a hand or a part or just shoot the shit. A little different than some of the dispositions I've seen in the " nostalgia " pits. Top fuel competition is a high dollar game. I guess it's true " money changes people " the bonds are strong but doesn't seem to be too many of them.
Oh and keep an eye out for "65 comet throttle stop" build thread. You excluded hotdog. He ain't outrunnin me if I can help it!
