l'm planning to do a trip to New Zealand with my family next winter, and do some Hot Rod / Custom events ofcourse. Now I have search RV/Motorhome to drive around the islands , it's very very expensive! Does anyone here on HAMB know how/where to rent at a decent rate? The trip is 4-5 weeks. Best regards// Roger .
What time of the year are you planning to visit , your winter - our summer? Not sure about the cost of camper vans but there always seams to be thousands of them on the roads here over summer. A lot of Hot Rod events on here from mid January to Easter. Russell
I toured both north and south islands in consecutive years a few years back and had a great time, some amazing scenery. Free camping is the way to go, just pull up where you want to! You're probably used to high fuel costs so it won't be a surprise when you see the price of diesel. I believe we had unlimited kilometres as part of the package. I've just e-mailed a friend which company we used on each occasion and how we got a great deal over the internet. Each was close to Auckland and Christchurch airports where our international flights landed.
