In this little desert town of 400, there are several stripped four-doors that have given their lives so that hardtops can live...perfect rust-free body shells, glass, even, in some of them. Strangely there are several 59s also.
I found a really nice 56 four door wagon complete and rust free, just the front sheet metal and motor gone. Even sitting on stock wheels with hubcaps. Someone beat me to it, after it had sat for at least ten years.
A wagon like that is my "ranch utility" dream car...

No pics but this morning on the way to work here looked at a 59 two door post, and a 56 hardtop and 56 two door post. The former is a complete car, windshield in it, even. The 56s have been stripped of most parts, but sitting in this rainless desert...
The saddest one is mi amigo Tony's clean low miles 56 4 door, parked under his carport since the day he died in 2004. His mom is so grief stricken that touching his house or any of his posessions is out of the question.

There was a time in my "youth" when you could't convince me a 4 door Tri-Five Chevrolet was anything but a family car, or a parts car. Now, I actually like them, especially the 150 models. Butch/56sedandelivery.

I cut my teeth with this car entering the hot rod faze of my life. My Bel Air was the beginning of my love for street sleepers.
Who would guess 4 doors packed a punch?

  19. Over here in the UK we don't have the same 2 door/ 4 door distinction and condition is more important in determining value of classics
