  1. Thanks Fabber , I’m kinda like Tim the toolman Taylor . Never met a tool I didn’t like . I use TO have a metal fabrication and ac co. Wish I still had all the tools and equipment I had then , but I would need a shop that was so big I could not afford the electric bill . LOL Now I have enough to get by on . Building a 10 ton press for doing louvres , dimpled dies and such . Building the frame work now . But I promised this would be the last .

  2. So this is the third cold day . We had 5” of snow yesterday and another 3 last night . Had to go out and work in the shop today . My wiring harness came in yesterday and started trying to figure out where to put it . Since there’s not a lot of room behind the dash and since I had an old 41-46 gmc dash and I’ve got a saw .........
Started cutting and fitting it up to the trim piece I had . 60 in my work shop and 26 where the car is , I decided try to make a decent gauge holder and have enough room for my fuse box .
Got it roughed in but need to do some planishing on the weld area and to curve the top edge up to match 29 trim . Then I will weld the two together.
Photo of snow is my back yard this morn 8 degrees. Blue

8 degrees is probably as hard on you hot country boys as 115 would be on me. I consider 65 about perfect shop temperature for working, bench racing however is better at 75 to 80, haha. Makes the cold beer taste better.

BTW, 33 degrees in Fairbanks, Alaska this morning (that's above zero, haha).

  5. I know you all think I fell off the world . Finished up the dash . Had to pie cut the ends . I need to mount it to the A dash but waiting on dash insert to get here to make sure I don’t have some warping I don’t know about .
Been cold in the shop so I just got the seam sealer down in rear and some soundproofing installed. My wiring system came in so I will start laying out to the rear . All this has got to be done before I can mount the fuel tank .
Was out of town last week but did get my tubes cut for my press . 4x4 3/8 . Going to be cold on Friday and Saturday, so I will weld it up on those two days . In the mean time I will get the wiring partway done and when my e brake comes in I will finish out the floor and start the interior. Blue

Hard to view your drawing, but 4 x4 x3/8 otter limit deflection pretty well I would think.

  7. Got started on my wiring Thursday and got the new fuse panel in place after ripping out the old stuff . Started trying out different ways to run it . Really needed my work bench that was covered in steel so I roughed in my press frame today . Had to build it in place because I didn’t figure I could lift it an d put it where it goes . All tacked in and started welding it in when I started getting some pros. In the weld . Couldn’t figure out why sine I cleaned the area well ? Found a big old bugger in cup , wasn’t getting the gas I needed . Will get the parts I need Tuesday. Will make my angle braces on Christmas Day . Fabber hope this gives you a better idea.
Working on wiring tomorrow. Merry Christmas everyone!

Nice job, you're gonna keep messing around til you need more floor space, haha. Hope you have a great Christmas, I think I'll take the day off. Spent the past couple days building a Grinch nearly 7 feet tall. Hope to have his skin on before midnight.

  11. Spent 4 hours in front of the blast cabinet this morning , boring . Rode my 49 HD to town for lunch . When I got back it was 80 degrees so sprayed some epoxy primer on dash and other interior parts . Will do a little filler work in morn . and wiring in afternoon. Thursday may be warm enough to paint dash . May have her running again by end of next week . Blue

  12. Nice and warm last two days . Put 4 coats of filler primer on dash yesterday without any body filler . Did a good sanding on it today and I thought it looked fine for a hot rod . I had done some metal finishing on the welded areas . So mixed up some PPG black and shot the dash and some trim out in front yard . Wind is coming up so I moved the parts into shop . Would have liked to let it dry out in the solar paint both . Photos not to good because of the black on top of the boards which are now black also . Should look great when mounted and trimmed . Will blast my headers then paint tomorrow , going to be in 70s tomorrow also . Latter Blue .

Looking great Blue! I too have been sanding and like you hate it. No hurry here so planning a trip to the GNRS at the end of Jan. Will have to meet up somewhere with the c.o.e.'s in 2018.

I have done same “ crazy” stunts years ago . Today recovery time is multiplied by 20 fold . Just a simple ride on the hand jamer is near tops on the physical ability anymore . All my bros are on me daily “ you need a newer scooter “ . My answer is if I can’t ride my old tin I don’t need to ride anymore . That old stuff is part of America , I’m proud to keep the memories sharp in everyone’s mind .

Temp swings like this just confirm the old saying "Theres nothing between Texas and Canada but barbed wire..." Looks like it will be down to the 20s next week in the hill country.

I really like what you have done with your Model A, turned into a little bit more than just taking out the rebar and license plate floorboards :)

  24. Thanks for all the feed back . It’s time to get off the motorcycles before we get shut down . Now back to our regular program .
I insulated the back of the body today and will finish tomorrow so I can get all the wiring done so I can mount the gas tank , fuel pump , and battery . Hope to get it back running next week . Plans are to start the beadrolled interior then .
Tune in then or as you use to hear : Same bat time , same bat station.
Happy New Year to everyone !

  25. Hey Blue, I've been following along since you started the "A" but got a little behind this month. I didn't see that you've committed to a passenger seat solution so if that is true, have a peak at the passenger seat mounts in a 1960-66 Suburban or 1947-64 Willys Wagon. They are similar to one another and provide reasonable back seat access. With your skills you could "adapt" the principal to your build.
Happy New Year, and keep on truckin!

  26. Don’t have much head room so I cut the adjusters as low as possible and welded a nut up and down on the front , screwed a hemi joint on and will put a simple bracket down to floor . Think it will work fine . Thanks for info , will keep it mine .
72 at 10:30 at 11 it was 38 with the wind screaming like a banshee. Good day to start a fire and drink a Jack this afternoon and watch football .

  27. Finished the press frame in the last two cold days . Warmer today so I painted it and will mount the press head and set up the dies in the morning and maybe knock out a louvre or two .
Will be back on the A in the afternoon and try to finish up the wiring. Here a hint of what the dash will look like . Not real hot on the polished Al. but will keep it for a while . Can always paint it or scuff it up . Blue

  28. Finished my press and did some test louvres, worked great . Only took about 2 minuets to do . Can’t wait to try some of my other dies .
Got back on the wiring and trying to figure out some location for things to mount on the A .
Will be back on it in morning. Blue

Aw Geez, I hope you haven't created a mad man. Let's see now, the sedan doesn't have air, so it will need at least 4 rows of louvers the full length of both sides.... no, no, no, you can't louver the glass, or the gas tanks of them bikes.

Doesn't look like it distorts the panel much. How big are they, about 1 x 3, huh? What other dies did you get?
