Its a no brainer take the Buick. You'd have to pay someone to take a 47 Dodge off your hands. Not only Fugly but way under powered.

  10. I’m leaning on the Buick bigger, nicer car easier to drive more “ modern” in a lot of aspects compared to the dodge

Again any one off parts etc?
Brakes , suspension tranny etc anything that is specific that I will get screwed on?
How are these to get parts for

Lots of engine speed stuff a bit pricey but slot is out there

Dodge, i'm with RMR&C. Put on dual carbs, Fenton head & split manifold. A friend had one, drove the wheels of it. Like a Timex; took a lick'n & kept on tick'n.

  12. 1-Buy the Buick.
2-Mark it up $500 and sell it to me.
3-Go back and buy the Dodge.

    Don't make this complicated.

I would keep looking but can't warm up to a big 4 door. For me it would be the coupe.

  15. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Buicks but after all the trouble I had with the torque tube on my 56 Buick station wagon I would take the Dodge .Now if some one had converted the Buick to an open drive line I would take the Buick. Bruce. 1956 buick special station wagon 004.jpg

I think the Buick is a 2 door. That reflection is from something that gives the impression of a door handle. Look at the rear window and it will answer your concern. Better pics may help, correct me if im wrong.

No matter what you do to the Dodge 6, a Soccer Mom in a Toyota Corolla 4 cylinder will blow your doors off. Not to mention the difficulty you'll have keeping up with traffic on an Interstate. That Buick will make a great highway cruiser. 40's Mopars are Fugly with little or no resale value.

Haven't you bought the Buick yet?

  22. Hey Bruce, what issues did you have with the torque tube?
How was the car overall for repairs and ease of parts?

The Buick I posted was a 4 door

I’m now looking at a 56 2 door special. With the split windows in the back ( 3 windows with 2 small quarter windows or side windows )

Thinking I want to stick with mid 50’s to early 60’s as it’s more a “ modern car” with an auto and pwr brakes etc.
That way the wife can drive it also, better on the Hwy etc.

Like I stated in my first post all the reasons I started the project on my fleetline that stalled as it sucked in stock form. I drive my cars from the moment the snow and salt are off the roads untill the snow starts flying again.
What’s the point of not driving them EVERYWHERE!!!!!!

THAT attitude will keep your ass out in the doghouse, and I understand Wisconsin can get rather cold this time of year.

I would buy the Dodge, it would be a lot better looking car after it is lowered, dual pipes and some mild pin striping. Years ago I had a '47 Dodge 1/2 pick-up, all stock, it run great and was trouble free.

The Dodge might look better after being lowered but with a flathead six it will never be a hot rod.

  26. I'd say Dodge. I'm just not a more door guy at all unless it's a wagon or a 30's sedan. Just my opinion.

I'd take the Dodge and swap in a V-8...

Not as cold as when was married to her. Every time she dropped her pants, the furnace kicked on.
