Technical Finally got the dough to buy a TIG Welder. Cant decide!

That works as long as you have verified that the existing supply cables are large enough to carry the new load. If your
utility has to run a second or larger cable to the panel be prepared for major sticker shock.

just got back from two suppliers in NY, they both are trying to sell me into an ESAB or HOBART i guess because of margins and the fact they have inventory. None of these supplies had anything i would consider in stock today. I called Miller earlier and asked the tech guy about all the issues posted online about the 210 Synchrowave and he said it was from a large batch of bad components from a supplier and they have long rectified that years back. He also told me there is no need for software updates as the machine now comes fully loaded where as years ago it did not. I think I am pulling the trigger on the Synchrowave 210 tomorrow because i like the built in cart, i want pulse to work on old car sheet metal without warping and some of the other features also seem cool like Pro Set for the built in parameter settings for post and pre flow and pulse. The Lincoln 225 and 275 area awesome machines but not an inverter style and can not be used at my house on 120V outlets, this is why the Miller 210 seems to make most sense

 

we have a lot of blue welders at school, and one red one that sits lonely in the corner

 

I got the 210 a couple of months ago they worked threw early problems. sell the mig gun but keep stick set up never know when you might have to do some old school dirty welding change the plug and weld 110 just about any where. I have been vary happy with just learning to tig weld but have vary good results so far

 

I have had a Lincoln Precision TIG 225 for ten years and it makes me look good. I also use it for stick welding thick stuff on BBQ pits and work bench frames. If I ever need a water cooled torch they are available as an accessory.

 

I bought an inverter TIG from Jeff at HTP several years ago. It’s a solid machine...no complaints.

I also have one of their original mig welders, a 120v version. It’s probably thirty years old, one of the first HTP sold.

It’s a lot more solid machine than my Miller 175.

It must be good, they're sold out till the middle of January or so.

My 25 year old HTP MIG welder still works ok, although it has a few little issues.

 

I just got a diversion 180 for 2100 plus a 700 dollar mail in rebate and a free miller welding mask which was 200 off cyberweld.com
It came out to 1400 and pay not taxes. I fill like I stole it.

There are about 7500 videos on Youtube. It is like a virtual and free welding school.

After that, it ain't nothin' but practice.

 

I used to do all the aluminum bodywork welding years ago with an ancient Heliarc machine,foot pedal, water cooled torch, loved it. It was fun, things flowed nice, line of dimes type welds, finished show cars. To this day I've never had a chance to TIG steel, maybe 2018 will be the year.
