  2. ............Glad you enjoyed it, Bill. I've had it since I was a kid, played with it extensively and plastered it with way too many leftover decals. It's not in great shape, guess you would call it "driver quality" or a "survivor".:D........Don. 20171212_182342.jpg 20171212_182416.jpg

Feel free to remove that last post that I posted.... I realize it's in kind of bad taste for the thread and I don't want to jeopardize it for everyone else... I know you have to have some humor in your life but....maybe not that kind in this place...... sorry if I offended any one....

  4. {Rudestude}, You're getting the right idea. They're more fun to play with, than to leave in the box. ;) Ron... 20171212_210334.jpg 20171212_210305.jpg

Just so you guys know, I didn't run out of diecast to present here, I have been so focused on building my roadster that I just haven't taken the time to get them out and take pictures. So you guys just keep right on posting your pics so I can live vicariously through you all! :D Bill

A variety of vintage Jeep toys, some common, some rare:
From left to right: Tonka, Marx, Al-Toy, Oglesby, and Wood Commodities
    [IMG]
Tonka: very common from the early 60s on. They came in many varieties including police, fire, and pink surrey with fringe on top. Jeepsters were also made. They were stamped "Jeep" in the Kaiser (post Willys) fashion.
Marx Jeeps also came in several varieties from the early 50s' on. They were stamped "WILLYS" on the lower part of the windshields, sides of the hood, and on the bumper bracket. They sometimes came with a trailer. Early models had metal litho print wheels. Some also had electric lights. Whether or not there were batteries under the hood, the hood opens on Marx Jeeps.
Later Marx Jeeps came with solid rubber wheels. Plastic wheels with rubber tires were perhaps the nicest. The later models had hollow plastic wheels.

Considerably more rare is the Al-Toy diecast aluminum version. It is cast "JEEP" on the windshield and "WILLYS" on the grill. This is the only version that has 9 grill slots, like the WWII military Jeeps. All others have 7 slots like almost every other trademark Jeep product. The windshield folds down. The hood opens, but there is nothing in there.

The Oglesby version has an engine under there and curious headlights that stay attached to the hood. It also has the most realistic impression of the counterweight on the front bumper of the agri-jeep.
Oglesby also has detailed gauges, pedals. Too bad the windshield is missing.
Oglesby says "WILLYS" on the metal wheel centers and comes with a trailer that resembles a Model A pickup bed.
Wood Commodities Jeep resembles the more common Marx version, but is slightly more delicate.

Thanks. That's the one…...I need a larger size of that to make a new decal for a full size car. Nickey ran that decal on the 63 Corvette at Daytona. Anybody?

Ron' That Willys pic reminds me of a friend that has a Willys sedan drag car. He pulled a giant wheel stand and when he landed ,it bounced into the guard rail flattening his drivers fender and popping the headlight out. He brought the fender to me to straighten. Bill

  17. 48stude, Theses r.c. Rods get treated pretty rough. The grandkids really laugh when parts fly off. I act like it's a big deal.;) But I really think it's funny. And then I just glue the parts back on. Here's another old Chevy with a different style gas pump. RON.. 20171219_120948.jpg 20171219_120925.jpg . 20171219_120948.jpg

I used to modify these Ertl diecast cars several years ago and sold some of them. Recently spotted the orange 57 I made for my Son while visiting him and his Family.

  22. As a kid, I told my mom and dad that I didn't want any stink'en clothes for Christmas. But I just wanted Toy Cars. When I got married I told the wife the same thing. So I hope to get a few new ones soon. I'm just say'en its not to late to tell Santa that you need some new toy cars! Ron.... 20171219_121206.jpg 20171219_121252.jpg A 36 Ford tail dragger
