Great shot. If it didn't include the modern buildings it could be any vintage. Please take another one with an old farmhouse or barn in the background. That's Christmas card stuff right there.

Yup!. Got all of those, and a giant Rubbermaid tub with dozens and dozens more. ;-) Someday, someone will wander through an antique store, shake their heads and wonder why we bought all those goofy things.

I knew a guy who kept his decorated tree in a closet. Pulled it out seasonally. Yes he was single.

That doesn’t sound so crazy. If we had the closet space ... It’s usually a two day project here to get the trees up and decorated. This year, sciatica is killing me, took three days and only 1/4 of the ornaments are on, and that’s just good enough. Can’t do anything in the garage either, so it’s going to be a long winter.

For those of you with a live tree, don't forget to put a cough drop in with the water. It keeps the tree from coughing it's balls off.

My daily is a Caprice wagon. The guys at the tree farm get a big kick outta tying a tree to the top. Got one 'It's a good lookin' vee-hicle' and even a 'You think you hate it now, wait til you drive it'.

Gotta remember this for next year. She's always nagging me to get the tree up - "that's your jog you know!" This would delay it another day and probably reduce my Christmas present count.

The A coupe last year and the 37 pickup this year. Lasted a whole week and someone decided to buy it. 20161204_171657.jpg IMG_2194.JPG

I shocked the wife by bringing Santa home. Got him at Restore with a few wrenches for my son. $4.80:)

Decided I needed to build a Grinch. Got about 40 hours in a project I figured would take a day or a day and a half, another 8 or so hours and he should be pretty much done, haha. Next year. Got him done enough for limited use in time for the annual Christmas Eve gathering of friends here at my house. Had him sitting in a HAMB friendly snowmobile sled that looks like a Santa Sleigh and covered his unfinished legs and belly with the remainder of the blanket.

Mouth eyes and eyebrows are all paper pinned in place. My good neighbor gal helped with that at the last minute while I did other stuff. Smile looks too happy and not evil enough, haha, but a good effort. Nose is an aerosol can cap.

Nearly 7 feet tall. Wanted him to bend where we do so I can position him in different dastardly tasks every year in the future. Knees and elbows are just bolted together to give movement in one plane, but the rest of the joints needed multi directional movement, so I welded 1/4 inch mild round bar to 1/8 by 1 flat bars then annealed them. Stiff enough to hold him up, soft enough to bend easily and not bust out the plywood skeleton. Should last a long time if I don't move them any more than I absolutely have to. Wanted to be able to give him a hunch back too.

Belly is scraps of PEX tubing with rabbit fence wired to it and covered with upholstery padding. Head is a couple big pieces of couch cushion contact cemented to a scrap of 3/8 plywood. Then roughed in with an electric carving knife.

Shaped the head with a new 80 grit flappy disc on a 4.5 inch angle grinder. Eyebrows are just tape to see where I was at.

Went to Value Village for fabric and came home with a dandy red bath robe for his coat and a SeaHawks lap blanket for skin. Damn, spent almost 10 bucks.

He was a big hit at the party and loads of fun for everyone. No time to finish him now so he goes in the shed and waits til the last minute next year, of course, haha.
