Customs Rod authority article about my collection

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Moriarity, Jun 2, 2017.

  1. I read the article. We kind of parallel in many ways. One, I was born in 1960. Two, I had a paper route around the age 12. I too collected things; from model kits, slot cars to electric trains.
I was a poor kid, so I had to work for everything I wanted. Saved enough from paper route, shoveling snow and washing dishes to buy a big block Chevelle. But my single mother gave me hell, so I let it go and had to buy something more sensible. Sad note is that my family didn't share my passion and thrown out all I had collected when I was in the service.
All I can say is that my bedroom as a kid was a small shrine of what is now memorabilia. I even painted a Roth style, Ed Newton drawn 57 Chevy monster car on the wall in fluorescent paint.
Thanks to you, I can live a little of that life once again.
You know, it's kind of funny...my high school sweetheart's dad owned a tool and die company. He liked my artistic abilities and flaunted the idea of me working for his company. Well, just another memory that came up while reading the article.

Great write up by Roger a noted custom builder himself. The only thing I found wrong is Marks hometown, I'm pretty sure he lives in Throbberville

Many thanx for the compliments on the article gentlemen...and many thanx to Mark for allowing me to write about him. It's a great collection to be sure. FWIW, not only do I write for Rod Authority, but you can see some of my other articles on Street Muscle Mag (website) as well as my column in Ol' Skool Rods.

Great article, I believe I still have the program from the show I saw Miss Elegance in in Seattle around 1960. I was an enthralled 14 year old then that got my dad to take me to car shows.

Mark is the man! All Roth lovers should be so jealous. I have a question. The article states that his futurian is a recreation, I thought it was his own creation. Am I missing something?

Very cool! Are you bringing any of the Roth cars to Amelia Island next spring?
I'd like to get a picture of my Jeffries Porsche sitting next to a Roth creation.

Here it is with the Aztec:
