The wind noise in my 40 coupe is not much worse at 80 than at 70.

Thanks okiedokie, I was mostly curious about the noise level on the the 39 because of the windshield configuration. I worked on and drove a 38 Deluxe sedan for awhile a few years ago but it had a one piece windshield in it. It was kind of a not too well thought out question since the OP would probably not have a base to compare it to.

I seldom hit 80 in my cars and when I do I am usually passing someone on a two lane and I am too busy hangin on to think about wind noise. I do hear the exhaust note though.

Only had it going on 2 months , 50 flatty wanna get it down a little .I see a lot on here that I like ,especially stance and tire size combo . Reading many post trying to see what full proof ( if there is such a way ) to lower it without losing drivability and don't want to ruin it . Member teach'm love the look of your green 39 kinda what I'm going after . Sorry guys not much on websites other then looking and wishing . Would like to contact or hear from member teach'm to ask a few questions ,thanks

Recently acquired this 90s survivor and looking for some input on wheel/tire size and offset. Looking for advice to get the front wheels inside the fenders more (backspace) and what size will fit under the rear. Any suggestions for the "big and little" look? Thanks! 00j0j_8TUlpGqDnH3_1200x900.jpg 00Y0Y_hBi0bDusyGq_1200x900.jpg

    Hello,
I just posted these photos a few days ago for those 40 enthusiasts on another thread. These sedans were very well done and looked extremely cool. The stance was just perfect. (although parking lot bumps might require the angle path...)

My first ride in a red, 1940, 2 door sedan was nice back in 1961. It had plenty of room and looked cool driving around (reflections thread) and got me started in looking for one with room in the back for our surfboards. I ended up getting a 40 sedan delivery.

Your sedan looks good. There seems to be not a lot you need to do to it. Just drive it and have fun. We put on 1000s of miles on that red/orange (salmon pink) 40 sedan delivery all up and down the coast. It was a mainstay around the So Cal cruising grounds.

  10. What's the front end and what is the rear end width? I am running 165/80/15's on 15x5 American TTO's on my coupe, with a dropped axle and reversed eye front spring with a leaf or two removed, and 235/70/15's on 15/7's on back. I've got a Granada 8" that measures 58" to the wheel mounting surfaces.

When I did the '40 MorDor, I used the same fronts, but used a 6" rear wheel, due to it having a wider rear axle, and ran 235/75/15's for a taller back tire.

Working on mine got the front end dumped this weekend, have to align the front end and trim the bump-stops. I have some '50s Chrysler Imperial wheels that I'm going to use, more to come.
