Well.....I have decided that I needd to speed this process up if I am ever going to drive my car again so lets skip the paint and chrome and get this girl back on the road!!!!!! Hopefully updates come along a little more often.
Have been making some progress here and there. Stripped down the frame and clean up....got a little ahead of my self on painting the frame so I have put some things back on and running brake lines, fuel lines, and air lines. Hope to maintain my progress and keep you all updated more frequently. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using H.A.M.B. mobile app
I believe that your project will have a certain amount of soul if you stay true to your vision and use as many original parts as possible. Tonight's soul is in a set of original Chrysler porcelain spark plug boots. I'm sitting at 50/50. Hopefully with some PB I will be firing on all 8 soon. Speaking of.....does anyone have 3 of the original flathead countersunk screws that hold down the spark plug cover? Like the one in the pic. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using H.A.M.B. mobile app
I found some S.S. Phillips-Head screws for the covers. (Not slotted) As it's been a few years, I can't recall where they came from. I can look tomorrow and see if the plastic bag has a name/number on it. Whoever it was, they'd have the slotted too.
Hey, tank, there is a cam grinder named Chris Nielson who may still specialize in early Hemi cams. His credentials include being the designer of the profiles for Comp Cams' Thumper series. He may have blanks for your cam since it is a Chrysler. His # is 801-451-7745. Good luck.
Couldn't find the receipt for those screws, but here's what they look like. Not like the originals, but the Phillips Head has a neater look to it, IMO
Yea I can buy new ones but would really like to have 3 original ones. I'll keep looking. Thanks Sent from my SM-N920R4 using H.A.M.B. mobile app
FYI so I bought new oval screws to hold down spark plug covers and yea they will work but not quite the same as original....so if anyone has a few of the originals I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Sent from my SM-N920R4 using H.A.M.B. mobile app

Getting closer, I bet that you are getting real excited. Sent from my XT1585 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I went with silver to emulate an original motor...the valve covers and plug covers are original and I'm hoping to make the rest look that way too....not really into the same patina these days but doing a little scuff here and there to make it look like a barn find...and that maybe the factory was doing some experimenting on putting a Chrysler Hemi in a Plymouth. maybe the factory was doing some experimenting on putting a Chrysler Hemi in a Plymouth. This has always been a fantasy of mine, as well. Only in my version, it's a '57 Savoy post with a 392.
I have even spent more time than i should narrowing the inner fenders and using original parts and pieces from the 54 Chrysler to make it look even more "factory". I think too many projects don't reach their full potential because too many people don't want to take the time and effort into all the little details. I think it will come out nice but still alittle nervous.
Yea...i got a good start on it...got discouraged a few times....had some life changes and now slowly back on track. Sent from my SM-N950U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
