I agree. Didn't we see an old picture of it with a hemi, or am I thinking of another car?

Enloe and Doug the Half Breed Corvette has been for sale for about 10 years I believe. I understand it was an injected Hemi that ran in the Central Valley mostly in California from the mid 60s until the early 70s. The car as it sits may need a part or two to get it back to where it can move under its own power. Here is a picture of it when it was a custom and then as it raced in the 60s. e004_12.JPG c669_3.JPG

That is a great shot in front of the gas station. It makes me wonder if that was their sponsor and where it was worked on ? Also I wonder who are the people in the picture ?

Jason, that is Larry Lombardo, I believe 19 at the time and who worked for Roger and who drove the car and Roger Sinistri who built the engine (his best with a 283/270 was 12.30s-pretty decent). The car survives thankfully. Roger owned the gas station in New Jersey I believe. He built some of the best engines during that era. Roger Sr.'s son was on the HAMB a number of years ago. If I had to guess I would assume the picture would be late fall of 1968 after they won at Indy (F/S with a 270 HP). In 69 they switched to Rochester injection and ran in G/S. It is possible this may be early 69-a guess.

Here is another Sinistri 61 Vette that was a record holder a bit earlier. Roger knew his stuff and Lombardo was a good driver who went on to drive for Grumpy. Vette Rabbit-2.jpg

Jason, those pictures bring back some memories for sure. I saw Gianino's 57 in one of the pics in the background with the hardtop. Remember when it ran that way. I believe he took the top off during the 67 season.

Also saw in the 66 Autorama pics Dick Robbin's 62 Vette called "Up tight outa Sight". When I had my avatar car at Autorama in 2013 my spot was right next to Dick Robbins when he had a 66ish Nova that won awards. Dick really liked my car and brought in old pics of his 62 that was pretty successful in the area. He and one of his buddies that raced with him came up from Tennessee for the show and they told stories of street racing. The one night they raced Lindamood on Woodward. Dick told me he won and his buddy agreed as he was the guy that helped changed the slicks that night. Dick went into racing bikes (motocross I believe) and won some acclaim, even racing on the local Kawasaki team with his brother. His dad sold bikes so he left drag racing for the bikes. I still run into Dick and his cars always win awards at Autorama. A really good guy. I have a hood like he ran on the 62 and like to believe I have the hood off his car. Fat chance in reality but wish the hood could talk.

The red is OK, Watson must have been on something when he built the blue one.

OK I'm in the spirit and having a martini and looking at my one of my favorite site's and need to express my opinion. I know I'm on a traditional rod site and this might be sacrilege but customs just don't do it for me, especially corvettes (worse than NCRS restored) now before some go ape I've put my time in on a lot of cars and it's just my freedom of speech opinion. The hot rod, M/P, Spts., gassers (I hate that word today) Corvettes are what turns me on. Jim Dillon's car for one is something that young men dream of. I'm a racer and probably will be to the day I die. Willy's, 57 Chevy's, 62 Corvette's. 62/63 Chevy's even Fords. Mopar and full size GM's from the 60's. I appreciate the workmanship in a lot of customs but it's not my bag. Merry Christmas and Merry Christmas to our men and woman serving this country.
