Not digging all those "red x's" where the pics used to be but it's a fun thread otherwise!
I have too many favorite t-shirts. WAY too many! One of our local car club gals is into quilting so I cleaned out my closet and put her to work. :D
    Had 'em made into this:

    Hello,

The black, Smokers, Inc. T-shirt from Bakersfield was my favorite car shirt. (well, technically, it still is my favorite) Everywhere I wore it, I got great comments from hot rod people. It has a lot of history behind it. But, other people thought I was advertising smoking or it was OK to smoke for young people.

One time, my granddaughter asked if I was “pro smoking” after a school pick up of the car pool. (Very impressionable at this age, for sure.) The story in Jan 2017, same thread. So, I had to decide where to wear it, not just wear it to the grocery store, shopping and definitely not for a pre-teen car pool. (people were identifying the words, not the shirt or the history)

Then, this past June, I received a couple of other great hot rod/drag race t-shirts when I attended the opening of the Lions Dragstrip Museum in Long Beach. They showed the Lions Dragstrip logo and some information. That shirt popped up in the daily rotation. There are a lot of people that went to Lions back in those days and they are all over the So Cal.

During the Lions event, I re-connected with one of my old high school friends (Jerry Bivens) who owns the Bivens and Fisher AA/FD, “Checkmate,” FED. I went to junior and senior HS with the late, Doug Fisher, too. We haven’t seen each other for quite some time and it was fun time talking about old cars and stuff. So, now, the #1 T-shirt in the public rotation is the “Checkmate” from Bivens and Fisher.
    Thanks, Jerry...

It is fun to explain what AA/FD is, that is on the front of the t-shirt. "No, ma’am… it is not... the Alcoholics Anonymous Friendship Department or the Airport Authority Fire Department.” (firemen are big news in So Cal these days…)

If my wife happens to be wearing her AA/FD hat, that throws everyone for a loop about the explanation. Why is she ???

  13. Just noticed how these pictures of the shirts make it look like I'm a 4X!!!...........That's definitely not the case, though I do try to buy XL Tees 'cause I like 'em a little "roomy".:D
